DAAD SCHOLARSHIP
Overview
This project involves the visit of Dr. Evangelos Rozos to the Chair of Hydromechanics and Hydraulic Engineering of the Research Institute for Water and Environment, University of Siegen. The project duration is from 1 March 2024 until 31 May 2024. The travel costs are covered by Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst - DAAD.
During this three-month research period, the potential of stochastic models in the study of intense turbulent flows will be assessed. More specifically, stochastic models will be employed to study the long-term effects of the detrimental impact of turbulent flows on nearby structures (see Reynolds stresses).
The conclusion of the visit resulted in two publications in scientific journals and one presentation. The second publication was based on data obtained from a hydraulic experiment conducted in the laboratory of the University of Siegen.
Deliverables:
Publication in JEES. Initial evaluation of candidate methods before the visit.
Publication in Fluids. The experiment and the analysis of the data.
Data of the experiment. The data collected from the experiment, velocities downstream of a hydraulic jump.
Presentation. The lecture given at the University of Siegen.
