School Profile: Huaxia Edison Chinese School, established in February 1998 in Edison Township, NJ, is among the first and largest schools of the Huaxia Chinese School organization. There are over 30 Simplified Chinese classes from kindergarten to 9th grade, plus classes of Chinese as a Second Language (CSL) taught bilingually for students whose native language is not Chinese. In addition to Chinese language learning offered by dedicated and experienced teachers, there are around 40 various enrichment programs and fun clubs for students, their parents and grandparents. Students also have opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities, such as writing, speech, debate contests, HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test), SAT II and AP Chinese class, mind sports, track and field games, volleyball match, etc., where they have performed exceptionally well and received great awards in contests and competitions.
With 20 years of dedicated, consistent contributions from volunteer-based teachers, teacher assistants, parents and school administrators, Huaxia Edison Chinese School has achieved so much more than just teaching Chinese language and promoting Chinese culture, it has also enriched the community life and earned its good reputation in the surrounding society.
A school logo was designed in December 2017 to celebrate the 20th anniversary. It honors the spirit of
Huaxia Chinese Edison School for the spread and inheritance of Chinese culture.
