Aubrey Draves graduated from Andover High School back in 2008, as a former three-year starter and team captain at Andover, Aubrey still holds school records and was known for her leadership and competitive spirit—qualities she continues to demonstrate today.
After high school, Aubrey received a full basketball scholarship to Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. She served as a team captain for two years, and graduated as the program’s all-time leader scorer and second all-time rebounder. Aubrey earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a business minor in 2012.
Basketball has been a lifelong passion for Aubrey, and from a young age, she knew that coaching was her calling. She thrives on the energy of the game and dedicates countless hours to the court—whether it's developing game strategy, running drills, or continuing to improve her own skills. Her commitment goes far beyond wins and losses; she views basketball as a powerful tool for growth.
She started her coaching career at Southwest High School in Minneapolis back in 2015 as the head JV Coach and Varsity Assistant. Aubrey was there for 7 years, and then took the Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coaching job at Brooklyn Center in 2022.

Aubrey’s coaching philosophy is rooted in a holistic approach to developing student-athletes. She believes in nurturing the whole person—helping players grow not only as athletes but also as students, teammates, and leaders. Her goal is to instill values like discipline, resilience, accountability, and confidence—skills that translate far beyond the court and into everyday life. For Aubrey, success is measured not just in points scored, but in the character and potential her players carry with them into the future.
As she enters her second year at the helm of the program, Coach Aubrey Draves is focused on strengthening the foundation of excellence that Andover girls' basketball is known for. She brings energy, experience, and a forward-thinking mindset to the role, with a commitment to growing the program both competitively and culturally. Her goal is not only to build a winning team, but also to develop well-rounded athletes who lead with character, discipline, and teamwork. With a strong returning core and a deep passion for player development, Coach Draves is excited to mentor the next generation of basketball players and continue elevating the program to new heights.
Coach Draves resides in northeast Minneapolis, with her two rescue dogs Gus and Winston.
