The Prime Minister announced that the next Federal Election will take place on Saturday 3 May 2025.
Please ensure that you have taken steps to ensure compliance with voting requirements.
For information around enrolment and eligibility to vote or just details about the election please to go the Australian Electoral Commission at https://www.aec.gov.au/election/
There are a couple of early voting options for people who will not be in their local area during voting hours on the day of the election.
You can vote early either in person or by post if on polling day you:- are outside the electorate where you are enrolled to vote
- are more than 8km from a polling place
- are travelling
- are unable to leave your workplace to vote
- are seriously ill, infirm or due to give birth shortly (or caring for someone who is)
- are a person with disability (or caring for someone who is)
- are a patient in hospital and can't vote at the hospital
- have religious beliefs that prevent you from attending a polling place
- are in prison serving a sentence of less than three years or otherwise detained
- are a silent elector
- have a reasonable fear for your safety or wellbeing.
Voting Centres
The Electoral Commission website advises:
You can vote at any polling place in your state or territory on polling day. Polling places are usually located at local schools, churches and community halls, or public buildings.

Early Voting Centres
Early voting commences 22 April 2025. Opening days and times vary from location to location.

Postal Voting
You can apply for a postal vote to have your ballot papers sent to you in the mail.
You can apply online via the AEC website, or by completing a postal vote application form available from AEC offices at election time. Check this fact sheet for details.
