Jacob Humes, has been training in martial arts for over 20 years, dedicating his life to both learning and teaching the art. As the owner and head instructor of Humes Martial Arts, he is committed to helping students of all ages grow in skill, confidence, and discipline. His passion for martial arts extends beyond technique—he strives to create a supportive and empowering environment where students can develop both physically and mentally.
Under his leadership, Humes Martial Arts continues to uphold excellence, and a strong sense of community, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
He earned his Tae Kwon Do blackbelt in 2012 and Tang Soo Do blackbelt in 2012. He was inducted into The King Cobra Karate Open Hall of Fame in 2016.
David Humes, has been a passionate martial artist since 1968, beginning his journey at just 11 years old under the guidance of Master Tom Meyers in Erie, Pennsylvania. Over the years, David had the privilege of training alongside martial arts legend Billy Blanks, whose influence helped shape his martial arts philosophy.
At just 17 years old, David took a bold step and opened his own school in 1974, marking the start of a lifelong dedication to teaching and sharing his knowledge. Now, with 56 years of experience, David continues to inspire students of all ages, teaching alongside his son’s dojo and passing down his expertise to the next generation.
David’s deep commitment to martial arts and his passion for teaching remain a driving force at Humes Martial Arts, where he continues to influence and mentor future martial artists.
He was inducted into The PKC Region IV Hall of Fame in 2015, The King Cobra Karate Open Hall of Fame in 2016, and The Pioneer of Karate Award in 2023
