Regular attendance at school for every student is essential if students are to achieve their full potential. Children are expected to attend school every day unless they are sick or injured, have an infectious illness such as chicken pox, have to attend a special religious ceremony or there is a serious family situation which requires their involvement.
If your child is away from school, you must provide an explanation for the absence by means such as a telephone call, written note, notify us via our Sentral for Parents app or an email to the school within 7 days.
If a student misses as little as 8 days in each school term, by the end of primary school they will have missed over a year of school.
Arriving at school on time:
ensures that students do not miss out on important learning activities scheduled early in the day
Helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine
Gives students time to greet their friends before class
Reduces classroom disruption
When a child is late to school it is recorded as a partial absence and must be explained by parents.
You will need to bring your child to the office where their late arrival will be recorded and they can then continue to class. If you are unable to accompany your child, please give them a note explaining why they are late which they can hand to the office staff.
If you have to pick up your child before the end of school you will need to contact the school explaining why they are leaving early and what time you will be collecting them.
Your child will wait in the office until you arrive and can then be signed out early.
There will be occasions when your child will fall ill at school or may have an accident.
Sometimes they just need an ice pack or bandaid and will return to class. Other times the office will call the parent to come and pick up their child. Your child must not return to school until they are fully recovered.
If your child requires medication during the school day please let the office know. We have a number of procedures that we are legally required to follow before we can assistant in the administration of medication to any student.
Our preferred method of payment is electronic. We have an online payment portal that is linked to the school’s website to make it easier for you to pay for school related payments.
This is a secure payment system hosted by Westpac to ensure that your credit/debit card details are captured in a secure manner, these details are not passed back to the school.
When you receive an excursion note that requires payment or the statement of account, you can log onto the school site at https://hume-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/ and click on the link “Make a Payment” and follow the prompts to make a payment via Visa or Mastercard.
When you access the “Make a Payment” you must enter the student’s name, class and date of birth. These details are entered each time you make a payment as student information is not held within the payment system.
We also have an EFTPOS facility at the front counter if you would prefer to use this.
Parents are most welcome to contact our school. Our School uses the 'Sentral for Parents' app to send out all school notifications. Parents are also able to provide permission for excursions and make payment via the app. Our School Facebook page is also regularly updated with what is going on around the school.
We believe that the best interest of your child are served when there is close cooperation between home and school. Whenever you would like to discuss progress or concerns with your child's teacher, please contact the school on 60 251 850 to arrange a suitable time. Alternatively you can message your childs teacher via our Sentral for Parents app to organise a time.
Where you have concerns that require the attention of the Principal or Assisstant Principal don't hesitate to make a phone call to arrange a suitable time to meet.
