I am a UMBC student with a background in programming. I make characters and animations for games using versatile software like Blender and Unity. I like to use code and animation together in pieces to create procedural animations. I break projects down to core ideas, I do the challenging parts of 3D like rigging and I don't avoid new topics. My goal is to be a technical artist or a 3D character artist. I will create collaboratively and carry the visual storytelling on games like artists I grew up with.
Hi! My name is Justin Gaylord and I am an Animation Major at UMBC. Initially, I aspired to be an author, but gradually veered towards making comics and, eventually, animation. I love creating silly stories that imbue a sense of fun and warmth. Whether through traditional or hand drawn animation, pixel animation, computer graphics or stop motion, I want to try them all! Experimentation is something I strive for in my work, no matter the medium. Through this journey, I want to grow in my skills and truly make something I hope others would enjoy.
This is a short horror film I created for a film competition with the theme of "Halloween". It was designed to evoke a sense of nostalgia in the viewer for the experience of being outside on Halloween in the early-mid 2000's, while completely alone in an unfamiliar and confusing environment.
