“HUMANIZE” is a student-organized Arts exhibition, featuring interdisciplinary art forms throughout the Fine Arts Building hallways and CADVC Foyer Space.

As students strive to excel in their scholarship and professional careers, they can’t help but feel the pressure of constantly performing. It feels like they lose little bits of themselves while navigating the ever-changing landscape before them, threatening burnout or apathy. This initiative is intended to explore identity through how art and creative expression can be a language for a person’s essence. The concept had been split into three main sections: how does art RECLAIM your identity ("past"), how does art REFLECT your identity ("present"), and how does art REINVENT your identity ("future").

Amplifying the diverse voices and expressions of our student body, we were able to celebrate our “humanness”

This exhibition was on view during the UMBC Spring 25 Semester from April 3rd until May 22nd, and is mentored by Professor Corrie Parks, curated and organized by Thalia Añora with their team: Dorothy Thompson-Pino, Rayanna Morris, Matt Hustead, Jamie Choi, and Ian Cruz.
