Humanimal Community Art Projects
Humanimal Community Projects is an art research project and human-animal experiment based on a "contact zone" between 13 artists and 100 Labradors' dogs. The experiment took place in a Labrador breeding house turned into an art residency in Civitella Paganico (Tuscany). The research project will include several exhibitions and events in Turku (FIN) Grosseto (ITA), Lexington (USA), Campbellsville (USA), Louisville (USA), Havana (Cuba) and Helsinki (FIN) with the support of many associations and institutions. The whole project has been funded in 2022 by Nessling Foundation. The art research methodology is related to the navigation design of the website: you can click the name of the artist on the homepage and his or her research will be disclosed. Every artist adopts a singular approach to document his/her experience: an artwork can be seen as a sensorial cartography of the artist's relation with the dogs . The artist can also include the virtual point of view of the dog as an avatar's simulation: he or she can be Vito, Valentino and so on. This double-possibility could allow a dis-identification from "anthropocentrism" to reach a humanimal in-between zone. The aim of the project is to enlarge this community with new species of animals and "new species of artists and scholars".
