LOOP

LOOP Is a revision of the concept of “mankind”. A change relative to the impact of an imminent environmental catastrophes. Our species discovered that it had placed himself at the center of the universe for centuries without having the right to do it; it represents both a condition and a prospect for the future. The old model developed by the Western humanistic tradition (male white, Caucasian, dominant and above all species, living and non-living) is being replaced by a new human: "self-optical", of fluid gender, of indefinite ethnicity and changing identity. This new human is intimately connected with the animals and plants kingdom: with which the human knows must share the same destiny, which hopefully will be not that of extinction.

Loop tries to give a figurative form to this new conception of “mankind”, with results that are punctually disturbing and mysteriously animast. Recalling Robert Pepperell's Post-human manifesto: “In the beginning we had God, human beings and nature. Humanists did without God, leaving humans in perpetual conflict with nature. Posthumanists do without humans, leaving only nature. The distinction between God, nature and humanity does not represent any eternal truth about the human condition. It simply reflects the prejudices of the societies that have kept the distinction."

Loop è una revisione del concetto di uomo generata dall’impatto con i cambiamenti nei comportamenti e nelle relazioni e le imminenti catastrofi ambientali. Quello che è accaduto nel momento in cui l’uomo ha scoperto di essersi collocato per secoli al centro dell’universo senza averne diritto, rappresenta sia una condizione sia una prospettiva per il futuro. Al vecchio modello messo a punto dalla tradizione umanistica occidentale (maschio bianco, caucasico, dominante e al di sopra di tutte le specie, viventi e non viventi) si sta sostituendo un uomo nuovo, autoptico, di genere fluido, di etnia indefinita e identità mutevole, intimamente connesso con il regno animale e vegetale, con il quale sa di condividere lo stesso destino, che si spera solo non sia quello dell’estinzione.

Loop cerca di dare una forma figurativa a questa nuova concezione di uomo, con esiti puntualmente inquietanti. Richiamando il manifesto del Post- umano di Robert Pepperell “All'inizio avevamo Dio, gli esseri umani e la natura. Gli umanisti fecero a meno di Dio, lasciando gli umani in un conflitto perpetuo con la natura. I postumanisti fanno a meno degli umani, lasciando soltanto la natura. La distinzione tra Dio, la natura e l'umanità non rappresenta alcuna eterna verità sulla condizione umana. Essa riflette semplicemente i pregiudizi delle società che hanno mantenuto la distinzione.”
