STUDENTS OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES GRADE 12 REFLECTION
The highest form of creative admiration is making a song about someone or something that you love. And in this group PETA, that is the feeling that I felt while doing this. “Piliin mo ang Pilipinas”, a country that I love in a way of wanting to make a change in there, illustrates my profound desire to celebrate and advocate for the Philippines.
There were times when it felt overwhelming, especially since editing wasn’t something I was fully confident in before. But as I went through the process, I started to get the hang of it. I learned new techniques, explored different styles, and slowly saw my progress. It wasn’t just about finishing the task, it was about growing along the way.
This group task taught me a lot and allowed me to showcase my talent in singing. It gave me new ideas and helped me understand the importance of teamwork. I’m thankful to my group for giving me the chance to participate in the song and be part of the video.
While I was doing my part for this, this is the PETA that is very challenging for me because it should be creative and the lyrics should be connected to the chosen regions.
I find this project challenging. From finding the right lyrics to editing the music video. However, I believe that this project helped me to gain or improve my editing skills. Lastly, it’s still a good project to work on.
Sometimes I loved writing a poem or even singing a song, so I'm not having a hardback doing this, I truly enjoyed doing this. The Cagayan, Cordillera, and Western Visayas have rich and unique cultural traditions, so we choose these regions because of the story behind them. Team work by doing this is a must, and even though its words, it expresses these regions.
The poem beautifully captures the diverse landscapes and cultural richness of the Philippines, highlighting the unique identities of Cagayan Valley, Western Visayas, and Mindanao. Each stanza evokes a strong sense of place, using vivid imagery and evocative language to paint a picture of natural beauty and cultural heritage. The juxtaposition of personal names (Alfredo and Isabel) with broader regional descriptions creates a poignant blend of intimacy and expansive appreciation. The poem's celebration of artistry, particularly in Cagayan Valley, underscores the importance of preserving and empowering local traditions. Ultimately, the poem serves as a powerful testament to the enduring spirit and captivating beauty of the Philippines.
Creating a song about the arts of the CALABARZON, Ilocos, and Bicol regions has deepened my appreciation for the rich cultural heritage and diverse traditions that define these areas. Through this process, I learned to appreciate the unique musical styles, traditional crafts, and vibrant festivals that embody the spirit of each region. Crafting this song allowed me to connect more deeply with their stories, values, and identities, reminding me of the importance of preserving and celebrating regional arts as a vital part of our national identity.
Making our own poem was a little hard for me since it has a theme. And also the words should be in rhyme. It was hard for me since I was not really into making a poem but with the help of my group members we were able to complete and make our own poem that represents specific regions. Although it was a bit challenging, I enjoy the performance process just like the others enjoy it.
As I read and contributed to this poem, I felt like I was traveling through each region of the Philippines. Even though these are just words, I could imagine the sights, sounds. Writing this made me realize how powerful words are in evoking emotions and images. This project showed me that even with just language, we can feel and connect with the beauty of our homeland.
We explored the beauty, culture, and struggles of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, and Western Visayas through poetry. I helped with the lines about nature and traditions, and it made me appreciate how rich and unique each region is. Working as a group also taught me how to mix ideas and create something meaningful. It made me see how poetry can tell powerful stories about our land and people. I wasn’t used to writing about places and culture, but I learned how to express these stories through words. In the end, I was proud of our piece because it felt like we gave voice to the regions we wrote about.
The lyrics are related to our Filipino community and the landscape of the Philippines is good. Editing is. Not my thing, I edit but I am too lazy to do some editing too.
Being Filipino makes me happy as we create this prose. We captured the essence of our islands, people, and history in every line. Words have the power to touch people's hearts and bridge gaps. I learned from this class that language is a celebration of our identities rather than only a tool for communication.
At its core, a poem is an exploration of language itself. Poets don't just use words to convey information; they sculpt language into art, paying close attention to rhythm, sound, and the precise connotations of each word. The choice of a single word can dramatically alter the poem's meaning and emotional impact.
Our group mates created a poem about Archipelago Reverie.
“Archipelago Reverie” reflects on the beauty and quiet strength of the Philippine islands. It uses dreamlike imagery to explore themes of distance, connection, and identity, portraying the archipelago as both fragmented and united. The poem captures a deep sense of belonging across scattered shores where each other creates connection to peoples.
In collaborating with my groupmates for the poem, I was able to learn how to create art with others and bring together our creativity to fruition. I am not adept in singing or poetry, but I was glad to have an experience in creating it with others and see how far the unity of ideas could get us.
Having to make your own song lyrics for a specific theme is very difficult. While I love singing, I am not a master at song composition. This performance task has been challenging and difficult, but nevertheless, everything worked out for our group.
I always love writing poems especially when thinking for its concept and I mostly do it alone to effectively express my feelings and such. So when its announced that this is a group work I somewhat felt skeptical about it and wondered; how would we make a poem with no singular brain but eight? so I thought it would be hard to do.
But as we do it, it was actually pretty chill and all and we made it through organizing our roles, parts, and explaining the concept of our poem with each other.
Aside from experience, I loved the outcome of our video especially the editing that perfectly aligns the meaning of our poem.
This performance task was so fun to make since we did not only expressed our appreciation towards our chosen regions, but we were also given a chance to learn something new about and interesting about them. I was the one who edited our video as well, which just made this group project more enjoyable. Editing is one to the things I love doing. So despite the fact that we only had a short amount of time too, we still did our best to put an effort in it. And honestly, I am proud and satisfied with the outcome.
Despite the fact that this was a hard performance task, given that it requires us to create lyrics, match it to a tone or melody, and then perform it properly, I actually find it quite fun. I have always liked singing and I find myself to be quite fine with it too, but I never really got the chance to actually let others hear me sing proper (except my closest people). This became the bridge that helped me do something I liked while also fostering my collaboration skills as it was a group task.

Writing a poem is my forte. It was a fun experience to voiced-out the poem that I made (together w/ my group members). Overall, it was a great time, and I just hope that I'd have more opportunities to showcase my writing skills in poetry.

Being one of the singers in our version of Piliin Mo ang Pilipinas was a memorable and fulfilling experience. Through our voices, we shared our pride in the beauty, culture, and spirit of our country. It felt good to take part in something that celebrates who we are as Filipinos. The process of creating and performing the song taught me the power of unity and creativity in sending a meaningful message.
This group task was enjoyable, though writing a poem was not an easy process, it took me an hour just to create a good rhyme for my part. Even though it was challenging, I found it interesting, especially in choosing the right words that would create a melody when read aloud. Not only did it help cultivate my poetry skills, but it also deepened my awareness of the diverse cultures of the Philippines. After watching the final edited video, compiled with my groupmates' parts, I was able to hear the harmony in our poem while appreciating the cultures of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Making the lyrics for our version of Piliin Mo ang Pilipinas was really fun and interesting because we had to think hard about how to match the tune and still show what makes Regions 1 2 and 3 special. It was a bit tricky at first since the lyrics we made to the song didn't quite match but when the it did start to fit, it felt like a mission success, especially to me who was assigned to do the lyrics. Personally, editing was the hardest part we did for that task but I really am proud to this day of the outcome of our video.
Our group decided to showcase the beauty of the different parts of the Philippines through a poem. The poem mentions the sceneries along with the local products in the Philippines, highlighting its beauty and its significance in the Philippines.
When it comes to making and doing a song, you need to sing it with all your heart. Our song contains regions from the Philippines. Not only regions but also the cultures that symbolizes every region and it shows how proud we are as a Filipino.
Our group embarked on a meaningful project to celebrate the Philippines stunning beauty, choosing poetry as a way to showcase our creativity. We believed that verses could truly capture the essence of our nation's breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture. As we collaborated, our poem wasn't just a collection of words; it was a tapestry woven with each member's unique touch of creativity and profound love for our homeland. This collaborative effort ensured that our verses authentically highlighted the deep adoration and distinct regional charm that permeates every corner of the Philippines, from Luzon's majestic mountains to Mindanao's serene shores.
For our second to the last PETA, we had to choose between making a poem or a song. We picked a song since our groupmate Janine is really into music—it’s her thing. Honestly, this was the easiest task for me because we used the song “Ride Home” by Ben&Ben, and since I’m also a fan, I was super happy. I also really liked the lyrics Mijell came up with, and Janine gave it a nice polish to make it sound even better.
What I loved most about this activity was how it made us explore the beauty of different regions in the Philippines. There are certain places I personally like, and through this task, I realized how many more beautiful spots we have in our country. It felt good to highlight those and be reminded that the Philippines really has so much to offer.
The poem entitled “The Verses of the Land” was created to appreciate how art is not just made for display, but carries the stories of people, places, and traditions. It reminded me that the crafts and weaves found in different parts of the Philippines are more than just patterns, they reflect culture, identity, and history. Behind every piece is a pair of hands that learned the skill through time, and that effort deserves to be proud of.
I also enjoyed the process of creating our song. It was fun because we got to express our pride in the different cultures, places, and artworks from each region. We worked together to write lyrics that highlight what makes every region special. It felt nice knowing that we were able to make a song that celebrates our country’s diversity in a creative way.
We chose to create a poem because, for us, it was the easiest way to express our emotions. Our plan was to showcase the beauty of the three main islands of the Philippines—Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Through our poem, we aimed to highlight the unique features and rich culture of each island, allowing us to share our appreciation for the diversity and unity of our country.
Through this task, we aim to portray that it’s more fun in the Philippines. It's a powerful reminder of the incredible beauty and vibrant spirit of the Philippines, from our stunning landscapes to the warmth of our people. This song truly inspires me to always choose and cherish our homeland, celebrating everything that makes us uniquely Filipino.
Ever since I was a kid, specifically 5th grade — I started writing poems. Unlike painting and drawing, this is typically where I believe I am capable of. And doing this activity also made me find my way back to my old hobby that I love most, which was also actually interesting because our group tackled the important culture of some of the places here in the Philippines.
As for the poem or song, I wasn't able to participate with my group members so I made one poem and uploaded it to YouTube but I'm so happy because I also love poems and I also presented the three beautiful regions here in the Philippines.
I was prompted to think carefully about the rich history, culture, and scenic beauty of Cebu, Visayas, and Mindanao after writing or hearing a poem-song about these places. Although each location has its own distinct identity, taken as a whole, they provide a potent symbol of Filipino pride and solidarity.
