Speaking Spanish isn't a prerequisite to becoming an English Language Ambassador. In fact, our program extends beyond just the Latino community. We have dedicated ELA teams working with Afghan immigrants, despite not sharing a common language. Through personalized, one-on-one sessions as well as small groups and visually engaging materials, these volunteers are making a tangible impact in bridging language barriers.
To join our cause, all you need is a willingness to commit to as many options as you are willing below:
Mentoring one student for one hour a week a minimum of a year
Mentor a small group of students of similar English level in a designated location that is convenient for the group
Be one of the mentors that attend Hudson Bend on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. where students are broken down into groups with similar English levels.
Be one of the mentors for a future Hudson Bend class on a weekday evening.
While our mission provides essential study materials, we're open to accommodating specific requests. If you have a particular book in mind, feel free to submit a request, and we'll do our best to accommodate it.
