Recent research highlights the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Extended Reality (XR), where technologies like Computer Vision and Neural Rendering enhance real-time interaction, 3D reconstruction, and immersive user experiences. To ensure ethical, adaptable, and user-centered systems, Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) methodologies are essential for guiding AI decision-making and enabling dynamic, context-aware digital environments. Such approaches go under the definition of Extended Artificial Intelligence (XRAI), which explores the integration of AI with XR technologies to create immersive, intelligent, and adaptive experiences.
The HUARL workshop aims at exploring and advancing the role of Humans in the eXtended Artificial Intelligence Loop (HUARL), emphasizing the integration of AI and XR technologies while maintaining human judgment, adaptability, and context-awareness at the core of development.
This workshop seeks to highlight novel algorithms, systems, methodologies, and original research in applying AI and XR technologies in ways that actively involve humans in the loop to guide, enhance, and evaluate system capabilities in supporting user tasks.
These approaches could be applied across various domains, including but not limited to everyday activities, industry, cultural heritage, media, social sciences, history, and music.
