This topic describes the different methods that you can use to upgrade your Microsoft Entra Connect installation to the latest release. Microsoft recommends using the steps in the Swing migration section when you make a substantial configuration change or upgrade from older 1.x versions.

Any versions older than Microsoft Entra Connect V2 are currently deprecated. For more information, see Introduction to Microsoft Entra Connect V2. It's currently supported to upgrade from any version of Microsoft Entra Connect to the current version. In-place upgrades of DirSync or ADSync aren't supported, and a swing migration is required. If you want to upgrade from DirSync, see Upgrade from Azure AD Sync tool (DirSync) or the Swing migration section.

After you've enabled your new Microsoft Entra Connect server to start synchronizing changes to Microsoft Entra ID, you must not roll back to using DirSync or Azure AD Sync. Downgrading from Microsoft Entra Connect to legacy clients, including DirSync and Azure AD Sync, is not supported and can lead to issues such as data loss in Microsoft Entra ID.

This method is preferred when you have a single server and less than about 100,000 objects. If there are any changes to the out-of-box sync rules, a full import and full synchronization will occur after the upgrade. This method ensures that the new configuration is applied to all existing objects in the system. This run might take a few hours, depending on the number of objects that are in scope of the sync engine. The normal delta synchronization scheduler (which synchronizes every 30 minutes by default) is suspended, but password synchronization continues. You might consider doing the in-place upgrade during the weekend. If there are no changes to the out-of-box configuration with the new Microsoft Entra Connect release, then a normal delta import/sync starts instead.

If you've made changes to the out-of-box synchronization rules, then these rules are set back to the default configuration on upgrade. To make sure that your configuration is kept between upgrades, make sure that you make changes as they're described in Best practices for changing the default configuration. If you already changed the default sync rules, please see how to Fix modified default rules in Microsoft Entra Connect, before starting the upgrade process.

During in-place upgrade, there may be changes introduced that require specific synchronization activities (including Full Import step and Full Synchronization step) to be executed after upgrade completes. To defer such activities, refer to section How to defer full synchronization after upgrade.

For some customers, an in-place upgrade can impose a considerable risk to production in case there's an issue while upgrading and the server can't be rolled back. A single production server might also be impractical as the initial sync cycle might take multiple days, and during this time, no delta changes are processed.

If you have made configuration changes to the active server, you need to make sure that the same changes are applied to the new staging server. To help with this move, you can use the feature for exporting and importing synchronization settings. With this feature you can deploy a new staging server in a few steps, with the exact same settings as another Microsoft Entra Connect server in your network.

For individual custom sync rules that you have created, you can move them by using PowerShell. If you must apply other changes the same way on both systems, and you can't migrate the changes, then you might have to manually do the following configurations on both servers:

During in-place upgrade, there may be changes introduced that require specific synchronization activities (including Full Import step and Full Synchronization step) to be executed. For example, connector schema changes require full import step and out-of-box synchronization rule changes require full synchronization step to be executed on affected connectors. During upgrade, Microsoft Entra Connect determines what synchronization activities are required and records them as overrides. In the following synchronization cycle, the synchronization scheduler picks up these overrides and executes them. Once an override is successfully executed, it's removed.

There may be situations where you do not want these overrides to take place immediately after upgrade. For example, you have numerous synchronized objects, and you would like these synchronization steps to occur after business hours. To remove these overrides:

During upgrade, uncheck the option Start the synchronization process when configuration completes. This disables the synchronization scheduler and prevents synchronization cycle from taking place automatically before the overrides are removed.

To remove the overrides for both full import and full synchronization on an arbitrary connector, run the following cmdlet: Set-ADSyncSchedulerConnectorOverride -ConnectorIdentifier -FullImportRequired $false -FullSyncRequired $false

Remember to execute the required synchronization steps at your earliest convenience. You can either manually execute these steps using the Synchronization Service Manager or add the overrides back using the Set-ADSyncSchedulerConnectorOverride cmdlet.

To add the overrides for both full import and full synchronization on an arbitrary connector, run the following cmdlet: Set-ADSyncSchedulerConnectorOverride -ConnectorIdentifier -FullImportRequired $true -FullSyncRequired $true

The same situation. At the same time, the flash drive inserted into the computer is synchronized without problems, as well as the SSD that I pulled out of the controller and connected to the computer. After returning the disk or flash drive to the controller, all playlists are visible and playable. You need to correct the situation, otherwise you will have to take the disk out of the controller for each new mix and return it back after synchronization. This is wrong, and a very big problem for actively working DJs.

maybe I have not explained myself correctly, I have deleted the internal HDD of my prime 4 and I have synchronized again, and then I have copied the Engine folder, in the prime 4, I am not saying that it is not an error, but at least like that, no it has given me problems

I have DesignSync managed layouts in my library. I need to get an oa object corresponding to an older version of the layout. For example in my workspace I have layout/layout.oa for current version. I need to have a layout_v1.1/layout.oa for the older version of the layout.

I need to do this without populating or checking out the older version of the layout, so as to not disturb the version history of the cell or the time stamps.

Is there any SKILL procedure that can handle access to older versions in Synchronicity?

I did formated the internal SSD on the P4. when I export a folder It will put it on the P4 but it wont be on the collection as a folder. It will merge all the songs . I will send screenshots3781614 62.4 KB4762640 56.3 KB51142535 112 KB

Is it possible to have Swift 5.6 not update the version of the Package.resolved file? I have to ensure not to commit the changes that are automatically made or remember to use an older version of Swift whenever dealing with this package.

@Jon_Shier Thomas has explained it perfectly. I run tests via GitHub actions against old Xcode versions and older Swift versions on Linux. This would require deleting the Package.resolved file before testing or ensuring the version 2 migration is never committed.

I mean, you can just make sure not to commit the v2 resolved file from Swift 5.6. 5.6 can use the v1 manifest just fine, just don't use it to update dependencies. It is unfortunate that SPM shipped a breaking manifest change as part of a minor release. @NeoNacho Is there any backward compatibility affordance here? Can we version the resolved files? Can we tell 5.6 to use the older manifest format?

Forcing the v1 format when an older package file is found sounds ideal. Another use case for this is adding or updating a dependency, which ideally would be done using the current version of Swift (soon to be 5.6). As it stands we'll need to switch to an older version when making these changes.

This change breaks CI testing that relies on older Xcode/iOS simulators. Is there any plan to address this with a flag to opt-in for v1 manifest format instead of v2? All I ever asked for is to have a git endpoint and commit hash. How hard can that be without breaking all CI/dev environments around the globe with no added benefit? Sigh...

In practice it's not fragile at all. The goal isn't to lock to a single version but to keep everyone in sync with the version used by the project. This allows the dependencies to be updated regularly while keeping team members in sync with the latest building code. And in 10 years I think I've seen a grand total of one iOS dependency lost because it was deleted from git. There are a variety of strategies to deal with that but it's a non issue in the Swift ecosystem right now.

The new Sync Settings feature enables individual users to sync their settings using Creative Cloud. If you use two computers, for example, one at home and another at work, the Sync Settings feature makes it easy for you to keep those settings synchronized on these two computers. Also, if you have replaced your old computer with a new one and have reinstalled InDesign, you can get the application set up quickly with all your settings in place by just pressing a button.

When you launch InDesign with prior sync information available, and create a document or open an existing document for the first time, you will see a prompt asking whether you would like to sync the setting from the cloud. To initiate the sync, click Sync Settings Now.

The settings are downloaded to your local computers and are updated in the application. If you change glyph sets, keyboard shortcuts, custom workspaces, or PDF presets, you should initiate sync before you close the application. You can see the sync status in the left-bottom corner of the document status bar. Click the Sync Settings icon () in the status bar and then click Sync Settings Now. 006ab0faaa
