In 1957, the Haverford Township School District and the Recreation Advisory Board of the Haverford Township Board of Commissioners engaged in a joint educational venture known as the "Haverford Township Adult Evening Classes."
Due to the success of such educational venture, the Haverford Township Adult School was formed in 1959 as a non-profit, independent corporation with a new name and an all volunteer Board of Directors dedicated to adult community education.
For over 60 years, the HTAS has successfully provided adults from Haverford and surrounding communities with programs that reflect the needs of all educational and personal backgrounds.
Hi Haverford Township!
My name is Lynn Beckwith, and I am the current Haverford Township Adult School Board President. I have been on the HTAS Board since 2012 and I am honored to be the President of a Board that does so much to bring classes to our community, and we are all volunteers.
Our Fall 2025 classes are up and there are many wonderful choices to meet everyone’s skills and interests. Taking a HTAS class is a great way to meet new friends in our community.
I have taken many classes over the years since I moved to Havertown. Some of the classes I have taken are yoga, belly dance, Beekeeping, hula hooping, ice skating, jewelry making, computer classes, Ballroom and Latin dancing and Havertown Choristers.
I moved to Havertown in 2000 with my husband and our two daughters, who both graduated from Haverford High School. I have retired from a career as an IT Business Analyst, and I am now focusing on making my own artwork. I have a BFA in Fine Art and I make handprinted lithographs and woodcut relief prints.
My husband and I continue to take Ballroom dance.
The HTAS Board is always looking for talented new members to contribute their
expertise to further our mission to offer great classes. Please consider offering your talents to HTAS as a Board member or as a class instructor.
