1) Balance.
a) Get to know yourself so you can quickly recognize that you are over-aroused or over-stimulated. Have a plan in place so you can either prevent this from happening or a plan about how to tactfully remove yourself.
2) Boundaries.
a) Learn to say NO to what is not best for you and YES to what works best for you.
3) Plenty of Downtime.
a) Give yourself “Unscheduled” time to do things that you enjoy or to rest and relax. This also helps you to “recharge.”
4) Daily Alone Time.
a) HSPs need “processing” time. Time to just think about things and process, and review them.
5) Rest.
a) Listen to your body and start your evening bedtime routine before you get too sleepy to properly prepare for bedtime. Learn how to get enough sleep!
6) Clear Communication.
a) Especially with the people who you are close to in your daily lives. Your spouse, significant other, family, friends, colleagues, etc.
7) Relationships that strike the balance of giving to others and giving to yourself.
8) Time to step away from ordinary thing.
a) Prayer, meditation, cooking, housework, cleaning, music, etc.
9) Spend time in nature.
10) Find and enjoy water.
a) Rain, lakes, ocean, rivers, and even staying hydrated internally! Drink half as many ounces as your body weight.
11) Establish independence and a strong sense of self and identity.
a) HSPs do best with some independence as they abhor feeling trapped.
12) Take time outs from heated or emotional interactions.
a) Its easy to feel over-aroused or over-whelmed so try postponing the conversation.
13) Take a walk, get some fresh air, move your body every day if possible.
14) Learn to care for your body.
a) HSPs tend to be sensitive to caffeine, alcohol, medications – both prescriptions and over the counter. Many, if not most, also have allergies – both food and environmental. They should eat a healthy, clean and organic diet.
15) Accept the loneliness that many Non-HSP identify with HSPs.
a) This is often misunderstood by others, but its your time to recharge your batteries.
16) Discover and seek out areas that feel like sanctuaries for yourself.
a) Your home, car, a library, a park, a friend or family member’s home.
17) Experience new things.
a) Positive new events help to build your self-esteem and your self-confidence and show to you what you are truly capable of.
18) Simple is best.
a) Too much of anything can drain the HSPs energy and ability to think and concentrate. Stuff, clutter, noise or an extremely busy surrounding can leave an HSP unable to perform at their best.
19) Find and make time for a creative outlet in your life.
a) Music, something artistic, create in whatever medium you enjoy most!
20) Share your gifts with the world!
a) Know that you have something amazing to offer the world around you!
21) Find and make time for relationships and friendships with other HSPs.
a) Its so nice to share on a deeper level and be a support for each other.
22) Learn to reset yourself.
a) Closing your eyes and taking slow, deep breaths!
