Intriguing non-Hermitian physics unexplored.
I thought the peculiarity of open quantum system is pretty much over, and what is left is just the interactions as new mechanism that can be utilized in quantum engineering of systems. But a recent review article by Ashida tells me more about it. In gain and loss systems, Hatano-Nelson chains, PT-symmetric ones, or long-range RDDI (resonant dipole-dipole interaction) quantum interface, skin effect or/and non-Hermitian topology can emerge with an interplay between range of interactions, boundary conditions, topology, and dissipations.
Geometrical skin modes and scale-free behavior predicted in a subwavelength 2D atomic mirror.
