Ku (2025), An ML-Enhanced Earthquake Catalog for the 2024 Mw 7.4 Hualien Earthquake Sequence: Insights into Structural Transition from Collision to Subduction in Eastern Taiwan, Journal of Geophysical Research, in press.
Supervisor: Hsin-Hua Huang
The large influx of data during the Hualien earthquake sequence overwhelmed Taiwan's official earthquake catalog system. I integrated multiple ML models and algorithms into a Python toolkit (AutoQuake) that produced a catalog containing over five times more events than the official one, revealing intricate fault interactions in the region. This result was also presented at both the 2025 annual meeting of the Seismological Society of America (SSA) and the Taiwan Geoscience Assembly (TGA) in a poster.
Yang, H.-Y. (2023), Multi-proxy reconstruction of Holocene paleo-environmental changes: Examples from the Tainan Science Park region, National Taiwan University, Master's thesis.
Advisor: Li Lo
To understand the interaction between rapid coastline changes since the late Holocene and prehistoric human activities near Taijiang Inland Sea (台江內海), I processed and analyzed millimeter-scale X-ray Fluorescence data combined with elemental carbon analysis, laser grain size analysis, lithofacies analysis, archaeological evidence, and C14 dating data to reconstruct paleoenvironmental changes. This result was also presented at the 2023 TGA in a poster.
