Nathalia Holtzman

Co-Director of HSI-STEM

Interim Associate Provost at Queens College

Dr. Nathalia Holtzman received her B.Sc. from the University of Toronto, followed by her PhD at the University of Oregon under the guidance of Dr. Charles Kimmel. Her postdoctoral research work was conducted with Dr. Deborah Yelon at the NYU School of Medicine. In 2005, Dr. Holtzman was hired at Queens College where she is now an Associate Professor and Deputy Chair in the Biology Department, the Associate Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Faculty Advisor of Course Redesign for the HSI-STEM grant. She has also led the redesign of Bio 105 for the HSI-STEM grant and continues to support its implementation. She can often be found in her office writing papers, grants or grading student homework, teaching a class for the biology department, running a workshop for the CTL or in her research laboratory. In her laboratory, Dr. Holtzman works with students at all levels, high school through PhD, to explore the development of the heart.

She currently serves as the Interim Associate Provost for Innovation and Student Success at QC. Through this position, she has joined the HSI-STEM team in a larger role.
