As a part of TEL 101, I'm creating this portfolio to track my progress throughout the course and will constantly be updated and modified.

Real life. Currently, I am a junior at Arizona State University in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, studying Elementary Education with a minor in Innovation in Society through the School for the Future of Innovation in Society at ASU. I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina with my mom, dad, younger sister Abby, and our three dogs, Gus, Farley, and Max. I decided to come to ASU and explore Phoenix for my undergrad, to live somewhere new and be on my own. This is my first year as a Peer Leader who instructs the TEL 101 class, and second year as an Education Mentor for the MLFTC students, and I love helping other students navigate the Teachers College, which has become a home away from home for me. I am also the Vice President of the Teachers College Council, a student organization through MLFTC and USG. During the summers, I work for an amazing organization called Freedom School through the Children's Defense Fund, and it has roots in the Civil Rights Movement. We work with low income students to provide a daily reading curriculum that is culturally relevant and provide students exciting new experiences, like trips to museums, pools, and sports programs.

Free time. I love spending time with family and friends and creating quality memories with them. My family is huge on both sides, with lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins and we always have a really good time when we are all together. Some of my favorite memories come from all of us being together at someone's house making perogies or spending a week on the North Carolina beaches. My dad's family is from Pittsburgh, PA, so naturally I am a passionate Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates fan, though I follow the Penguins the closest. I also love to read for fun, whenever I get time, but during the school year, I end up watching a lot of Netflix and Hulu. My favorite shows would have to be Brooklyn 99, Great British Baking Show, and Chopped.
