The High School Business Heroes program was established at McMaster University in 2006 with the goal of creating a business case competition that nurtures the growth and development of bright, young business minds. We provide senior high school students across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area, with the opportunity to apply creative thinking in an experiential learning environment, while gaining valuable insights through mentorships with undergraduate students from the DeGroote School of Business.
The mission of High School Business Heroes is to enrich the educational experience of high school students by pushing students beyond the boundaries of the classroom, and presenting opportunities to learn key business strategies from undergraduate mentors, faculty members, and industry professionals.Â
Allow students to grow personally and professionally, while improving upon business intuition and skills such as critical thinking, communication, and creativity.
Provide students with the opportunity to learn, develop, and challenge themselves through the creation of an innovative solution for a real-world business problem.
The High School Business Heroes Case Competition offers a mentorship program that pairs high school students with undergraduate students from the DeGroote School of Business. Through this program, our mentors serve as a guide not only for successfully competing in the competition but also as a guide for first-year university life. Mentors and competitors form a strong professional network through the mentorship program, sharing valuable insights that will help students be successful in their competition performance and in their daily lives. The HSBH mentorship program focuses on the "Develop" pillar, aiming to provide our competitors with support and guidance to assist them in the development of business acumen, analytical skills, as well as critical soft skills relevant to the real-world.
