Spirit Rock

PCA HSA now requires payment for Spirit Rock rental dates prior to signing up. Submit payment to PCA's front office with the order form (found at pcapvb.org) and desired date(s). You may wish to include alternate dates in the event your requested date(s) are not available. Then email laxlexi@hotmail.com to sign up. Once payment has been confirmed, your sign up will be reflected on the calendar. Dates are first come, first served, and are NOT guaranteed. Once confirmed, Spirit Rock rental dates will not be refunded for ANY REASON.

Please read all rules before making your reservation. Reserving a date(s) assumes agreement to adhere to all PCA’s Rental and Painting the Blue Angel Spirit Rock rules and guidelines. Please read them thoroughly.

The Blue Angel Spirit Rock is located between the playground and the carpool line. It is a fun and creative way to show anyone in our PCA community that you are thinking of them. Parents & staff have the opportunity to rent the Spirit Rock to recognize a student's birthday, show school spirit, thank or recognize a teacher or staff member, cheer on a team, etc. It is a great way to spread positive messages and increase excitement in our PCA community. Paint it on the Spirit Rock!

HOW SOON CAN I PAINT THE ROCKS?

Reservations MUST be made to paint the Rock, and are available on a first come, first served basis. PCA and the HSA reserve the right to block off dates for school related use. Once reserved, you will have the rock for 24 hours beginning at 4:30 PM the day before. You are permitted to sign up for two consecutive days to preserve your painting. You may begin to paint the Spirit Rock at 4:30 PM THE DAY BEFORE (or the last school day before) your rental date. Similarly, the person who signs up for the next day may begin decorating the rock at 4:30 PM on the last day you have reserved. Therefore, spirit rock reservations run from 4:30 PM the day BEFORE you sign up through 4:29 PM the day OF your sign up. Rocks reserved for Monday should be painted the prior Friday. For example, if you reserve the rock for September 15th, you’ll have the Spirit Rock beginning at 4:30 PM on September 14th through 4:29 PM on September 15th. If you are painting on the first day back from a vacation, you will paint on the last school day before the vacation. We need everyone to cooperate with this rule in order to keep a functioning system. Additionally, please do not arrive early to paint the rock as PAINTING IS NOT TO OCCUR DURING CARPOOL HOURS.

Each rental day is $25. Individuals are not to exceed two consecutive and three total rental days per calendar month. Payment is due once you have made a reservation. Please keep in mind that your date is not confirmed until payment is received. Please send a check payable to PCA to the office with "Sprirt Rock Rental" and the date(s) in the notes section. Unless your desired dates are not available, all payments and reservations are non-refundable for any reason (changed your mind, inclement weather, illness, etc). In the event of inclement weather, plan on painting with an umbrella in your hand. However, if you decide you do not want your date, you can offer it to a friend or sell it to another family on your own. Once you sign up for a date, you are responsible for payment (as long as your dates are available).  Refunds will not be given under any circumstances. If none of your desired dates are available when your form is received, your payment will be returned to you or your check will be destroyed and not deposited.

WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED TO PAINT THE ROCK?

Individuals are responsible for providing all labor and materials for painting the spirit rock as well as cleanup of materials. Assistance as well as paint and painting and clean up supplies will not be provided by the school or HSA. PLEASE DO NOT USE SPRAY PAINT! Please use only "standard" LATEX or WATER BASED EXTERIOR paint on the rock...no puffy paint, no glue, no chemicals, NO OIL BASED PAINT, etc. You will be painting over the previous day's message when it is your turn, so make sure your paint will provide good coverage.

Individuals painting the Spirit Rock are expected to ensure the area around the Spirit Rock remains clean, free of trash and debris. Do not leave paint or other materials on the road, curb or grass. Bring a large trash bag to take home all items/supplies after the painting is complete. You will not have access to water on site to rinse off brushes/rollers. You will need to properly discard all painting supplies off campus.

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON DECORATIONS?

Spirit Rock paintings MUST be positive and in good taste.  All wording and symbols must be positive. No profane words, symbols, discriminatory or derogatory/offensive messages or political statements or symbols are permitted. PCA Staff and the HSA will regularly monitor the Spirit Rock to ensure that paintings fall within the established guidelines. All rules of conduct as outlined in the PCA student handbook should be applied to painting the Rock. PCA reserves the right to remove inappropriate content and remove any painting deemed inappropriate by school administration without notice or refund to those who painted the rock. The Spirit Rock is intended to be used only by PCA families and staff. Business and sales promotions are not permitted.

Only the rock can be painted. Do not paint on the parking lot, sidewalks, buildings, trees, grass or any other material surrounding the Spirit Rock.
