Names

Pup names are given by a mother/mother figure. After earning a wolf name, being called a pup name is derogatory.

Wolf names are earned after your first hare. And will often reflect your first hare (be it how you caught it or what the hare looked like). They are chosen by an alpha, but other wolves can/are encouraged to offer suggestions. The named wolf does not get to choose, they need to change the names meaning by their own reputation.

Pup names are one word like Tree, Bug, and Frog. Wolf names are more like, Blackmane, Pond Jump, Pondjump, Whitehare or White Hare. They can be long like Howling Wind In The Pine Trees. But, are often not because... well they are really long. But if your alpha is old fashioned then you'll get a long name.

Nicknames are only used by those closest to you and do not have to be anything close to your earned name. Nicknames can be given by higher ranked pack members as a sort of punishment. Like, if you were being very sneaky and kept stealing food from the hunt pile, then you may be branded as Fox. It's an insult to be nicknamed by wolves you do not know very well.
