Mr. Alberini graduated from Leavittsburg High School where he lettered in track, cross country, basketball and baseball. He held numerous records in cross country and track. He received a full NCAA cross country and track scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University where he ran all four years. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Education there, he taught and coached track and basketball for two years at Leavittsburg High School. In 1962 he started teaching at Howland High School. He was the head track coach, assistant basketball coach, and also an assistant football coach under Alex Vuchak. While track coach at Howland, the program had a dual meet record of 70 victories and 5 league championships. In 1968, Fred founded the Trumbull Co. Coaches Association and was elected its first president. In 1972 with a Master’s degree from Westminster College, he became a guidance counselor at HHS. He served the community in numerous ways, some of which include: Howland Trustee, Chairman of the Trumbull Co. Democratic Party, President of NE Ohio Council on Drug Abuse, Committee to establish Howland Township Park, and the Ohio Election Committee. He is presently a member of the Trumbull Co. Community Foundation Board and a partner of A & E Brokers and Consultants. He resides in Howland with his wife Carol. His children, Regina, Mark, Michael and John, are all successful Howland graduates.
Born Antonio West Davis, he began playing football at the age of 7 for the Howland Little Tigers. Tony was a standout on the Coach Angle’s football team throughout the 2001, 2002, and 2003 football seasons garnishing numerous awards. He was 1st team all MAC, All County, and All state. Also, Tony was recognized as the Trumbull Co. Player of the Year, All NEO Div. II Player of the Year, Big 33 Team, and was awarded the Korey Stringer Award and the Mike Deniro Memorial Award. As a member of the Track and Field team he ran on the 4 X 100 relay team, the 100 high hurdles and the 300 hurdles winning numerous individual and team titles throughout his career. He holds the school record in the 110 high hurdles (breaking the record set by Olympian Willie Davenport) as well as being a member of the school record holding 4 X 100 relay team. Tony was a district champ in the high hurdles, a state qualifier in the 4 X 100 relay, and Conference MVP his senior year. He attended Penn State on a football scholarship, starting for three years. After earning his Bachelors Degree, he signed as a free agent for the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL. He currently resides in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife, Sabrina and two children, Haven and Cameron.
John was an All Steel Valley golfer for the Tigers under Bruce Boron. John still shares the nine hole school record of 32 with Dennis Joy. He led the Tigers to a second place finish in the Ohio State Golf Championship. John was a National Honor Society student at Howland. He played college golf for Eastern Kentucky University. He was a Presidential Scholar Athlete for EKU and was a member of the Ohio Valley Conference championship team. John earned a four year scholarship and lettered all four years at Eastern. After graduating for EKU in 1989, John pursued competitive professional golf for a short while until 1994 when he earned his class A-1 PGA card. He spent 8 years coaching the Lady Tigers only to retire with a state championship title and Coach of the Year award. John is currently the Head PGA Professional at the Trumbull Country Club. He has been at the club since 2000. He spends most of his days teaching aspiring young golfers, hoping he will have another student as successful as PGA Tour star Jason Kokrak. John is married to Marian and has three children: John Michael, 13; Isabella Therese, 10; and Mariana Rockelle, 9.
Henry was a very successful golfer at Howland High under Coach Boron. The 1984 and 1985 teams posted records of 12-0. He was runner-up in the 1986 State AAA golf tournament. He set the 18 hole record of 69. Some of his other accomplishments during his high school career include: 1986 District Champ (score 72), 1985State Tournament 4th place, 1985 District Champ (score 71), 1984 first place at Sectional (score 75), 1985 senior year scoring average was 35.7. He also set the course record at Avalon South with a 62. Henry attended the University of Alabama on a golf scholarship and was a 4 year member of the golf team. He went on to play professionally on the Web.com Tour and various other tours and US Open Qualifiers. He taught for Golf Digest Golf Schools for three years. He holds 5 course records and has 14 holes in one. He has caddied for 14 years on the PGA Tour for C. Beckman, B. Haas, and C. Howell III. He moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia in 1992. Henry still dreams of making it!
Robin was a successful member of the cross country and track and field teams while a student at Howland High School. In cross country she won numerous invitational and conference championships. In 1985 she set the school record, continued to lower it, and still holds it today. She was a 2 time state qualifier finishing 56th and 14th. She was a 2 time National Junior Olympic Qualifier, finishing 28th in Anaheim, Ca. and 36th in Raleigh, N.C. On the Track team, she won invitational and conference championships ranging from the 800m to the 3200m. She held the school record in the 800m, 1600m (until spring 2012), and 3200m (until spring 2014).
Robin received a running scholarship from Edinboro University where she ran cross country and track specializing in the 5000 and 10,000 meter runs. She has taught physical education for the Howland Local Schools for the past 20 years. She has coached Middle School Track and Field for over 13 years. She took over the HMS cross country program in 2009 and watched it grow from 17 boys and girls participating to over 40 with much success in competition. Robin and her husband Scott reside in Howland with their children, Tyler and Nicole.
Mr. Mock graduated for Warren G. Harding , High School. He was on the varsity football and track teams. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Kent State and his Master’s degree from the University of Dayton. Dave began his teaching career at Howland Junior High School in 1974, teaching U.S. History. He was the football and track coach there. He became a certified track official and started over 200 track meets. In 1980 Coach Mock moved to Howland High where he taught Accounting for grades 10-12. He served as assistant football coach for Jack Pierson. In 1983 he became the third Athletic Director for the Howland Schools. He served as AD for 17 years. During that time numerous varsity programs were instituted: boy and girls soccer, girls golf, boys and girls swimming. He founded the Howland Funfest, and he was a lead committee member for the construction of the new gymnasium, new track and football stadium renovations. Some of his numerous community activities are trustee for Howland Little Tigers, Director for the LPGA tournament, President of the Trumbull Co. Coaches Association, serving on the All Sports Booster Club and Quarterback Club. He was also a member of the State Board of Athletic Directors. He instituted the Wall of Fame where all school sports records are posted. Dave completed his career in the Howland Schools as the Assistant Principal at HMS. He resides in Howland with wife, Melinda. His daughters are Amanda, a teacher in Cleveland Heights, and Andrea, a News Anchor for CBS in Columbia, S.C.
Bill is very proud to be the son of John Quinlan, Trumbull County Athletic Hall of Fame member and one of the original organizers of the Howland Athletic Club and the Howland Booster Club. Bill played football for Alex Vuchak and baseball for Jim Mapes while at Howland. As quarterback for the Tigers, Bill holds the record of four touchdown passes in one game since 1966. As the third baseman, he helped the team achieve winning seasons. After graduation Bill joined the Army and attended West Point where he was on the football team for one year and the baseball team for three years. After leaving the Army, Bill entered the healthcare field and has been a healthcare risk manager for the last 30 years. Bill is exceedingly proud to be the father of Darcy Quinlan who is also being inducted tonight. Bill is married to Bobbie and the father of Allison and Darcy.
Darcy Quinlan, daughter of Bill and Bobbie and sister of Allison, earned 12 varsity letters while participating in soccer, basketball, softball and track as an athlete at Howland High. By sport, some of her achievements include: Soccer – 3 letters, 1st team all-league (10-12), 1st team all-district (11,12), 3rd team all-state (12), District Champion Team (9,10); Basketball- 4 letters, 1st team all-county(11), 1st team all-league (11,12) 2nd team all-district (11), league player of the year (12), 3rd team all-state(12), District Champion Team (10,11), career assist record 540, game assist record 15, Trumbull Co Coaches Player of the Year (12); Track – 2 letters, District Finalist 4X800 (9), District Finalist 4X400 (10); School record 4X800 team (9); Softball – 3 letters, 1st team all-league (10-12), 1st team all-district (12), District Champion Team (12), school record most hits 32 (10), record for most singles 27(10), record for most steals 27 (11), record for outfield assists (11), record for most singles 30 (12).. She received a full-ride scholarship to play basketball at Ohio University. She graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She has taught Health and Physical Education for six years. She was the varsity girls soccer coach at Columbiana for 2 years. She coached basketball, softball, and track for 10 years. Currently, Darcy is enrolled as a full time graduate student at Slippery Rock University in Adapted Physical Activity.
Mr. Reinhardt taught Health and Physical Education at Howland for 35 years. He served as Faculty Equipment Manager for 25 years. Barry coached wrestling from 1974-2013. As the Freshman and Middle School Coach for 9 years, the team had a dual meet record of 136-37-0. He served as the Head Varsity Coach for 16 years. During this time, the team posted a dual meet record of 135-37-0. His wrestlers featured 165 individual tournament champions, 1 state champion and high school All American, 9 state place winners, 28 state qualifiers, and 131 district qualifiers. His teams won 24 tournament championships. Barry served as assistant Varsity Coach from 1999-2013. The dual meet record during this time was 126-37-1 with a state champ, a high school All American, 14 state placers, and 26 state qualifiers. Coach Reinhardt achieved numerous coaching honors including the following: Ohio HS Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame, Trumbull Co. Sports Hall of Fame, Coach of the Year for EWOL and the Trumbull Co Coaches Association. He resides in Howland with his wife, Lucy. They have two children, Ryan and Bethany.
Donald was a 1969 graduate of HHS. He was a star on the basketball team with great jumping ability. He was competitive and driven to be the best player possible. He led the Tigers to league championships and helped the team advance to the district final game. He led the team in scoring and rebounding his senior year. He received a basketball scholarship to Western Kentucky University and was a member of the 1971 Final Four team. He graduated with a degree in biology, minoring in anthropology, Don retired as International Manager of PC&L in July 2007 from Delphi Packard Electric, where he had worked for 33 years. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 59 on January 2, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Delilah Pflager Waldron and children Stacey Fisher, Daelle (Gary) Gearhart, Jason (Lisa Bunnell) Waldron. His 5 grandchildren are Austin Waldron, Aubrey and Autumn Fisher, Katarra Waldron and Taylor Gearhart.
James Walker earned three letters in track while at Howland. He currently holds the school record in the 400 m and the 4X200m relay. He is a former record holder in the long jump, 200m, and the 4 X400m relay. While running track for HHS, he was a champion at various invitationals and a state qualifier in the 400m and the long jump I 1979. He is still the all-time single season points leader for the Howland High boys track team. As a member of the Austintown Striders summer track team, he anchored the 4X200m relay team, placing 4th at the AAU National Track and Field meet in Albuquerque, NM in 1977. He was also a 3 year letterman in Varsity football. He led the Steel Valley Conference in kick-off returns for 3 seasons. His senior year, he led the Conference in interceptions. In football, he was All Steel Valley and All NE Ohio Honorable Mention. He also played basketball his freshman and sophomore years. Jimmy is a 1996 honors graduate of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh with an Associates of Applied Sciences in Film Production and a 2013 business management graduate of Western Governors University. He also holds a COMPTia A+Hardware certification from Lakeland Institute of Technology. James served our country for 4 years in the US Navy where he was stationed on board the carrier, the USS Constellation CV 64 in San Diego. Mr. Walker has appeared in two movies, Desperate Measures and Sudden Death. He is currently working as a consultant and has been involved in political and community organizing for the past 7 years. He and his wife Robin married in 2005 and reside in Warren with their four cats.
Jeff was an inspirational athlete who captained the track, cross country, and soccer teams. He competed on both the cross country and soccer teams during the fall season. His record in the mile run still stands 29 years later. After graduation in 1985, he attended The Ohio State University and was commissioned in the United States Navy Submarine force. Jeff conducted numerous naval operations vital to National security, deployed to Iraq in 2006 and retired after 20 years of service on 2009. Apart from his time in the military, athletics and community service were and continue to be an important part of his life. He coached all three of his kid’s soccer and hockey teams, referees NCAA college soccer as a national referee, was an active leader in Cub and Boy Scouts, competes in triathlons with his son, and will complete his first full Ironman in 2015. Jeff has inspired his kids to be athletic and compete at the highest level. Victoria (21) compete on the USA Canoe/Kayak Junior National Team, was recruited for Division I rowing and will graduate from Northeastern University with a chemical engineering degree this spring. Logan (18) completed his first half Ironman in Kona and is a member of the lightweight rowing team at the United State Naval Academy. Isabella (6) has just started her journey with youth soccer and shows interest in competitive running. Jeff met his wife Christy at OSU, married in 1990, and settled in Hawaii in 1997. Jeff currently serves as a senior submarine tactical analyst for Commander Submarine Force Pacific.
