Hi Ada. The Doman dot program for children over 30 months can provide a basic foundation in number concepts, sequences and basic arithmetic. It can be supported further by demonstrating the concepts with physical manipulatives, such as counters, or an abacus. I believe this should be the direction even when teaching children below 30 months because they will not retain the math knowledge if it is not reinforced with further repetitions.

For lessons in quantity to be truly successful, it is advisable to begin before the age of two and half. Of course, how you approach your lessons will depend in part on the age of your child. If your child is over the age of two and half, there is still plenty you can do to give him a head start in mathematics. Your child may not be able to instantly see large quantities, but you can still give him an idea of what real quantities are by showing him objects in a grid pattern. For me it is too hard to understand how the knowledge of math, science, learning languages, etc. can be a damage for the little children. I know that the Institutes has more that 40 years working with children with brain damage and have been successful in helping those children through teaching them math, and reading as therapy for developing damaged brains, also there are hundreds of thousand of well children that had good intellectual development because the parents teach them since they are very young.
