It started with music, blossomed into drawing and then I got my first camera at age 14. The love of photography was born. At 15 I moved from my birthplace, London, England to Sarasota, Florida. I went on to graduate from the Out-Of-Door Academy which lead me to Ringling College of Art & Design.

With a strong background in Marketing & Development, jumping on board with my wife, Elizabeth just made sense. Seeing her long lived passion for photography inspired me to try my hand and instantly understood her enthusiasm. I am proud to stand next to my wife as a second shooter at all different types of celebrations.

Next up the salsa. Pineapple mixed with mango and roasted jalapeo! It might just be one of my very favorite salsas. I love the mix of pineapple and mango with the spicy jalapeo and cilantro. So yummy!

The recipe calls for 600g/20oz of canned pineapple. Those of you in Australia will need 1 large can (425g) and 1 small can (225g) which together totals 650g. This is more pineapple than you need to cover the surface. So chop up leftovers and toss them into the batter!

This turned out absolutely delicious! The caramelized sugar on top is so amazing and the cake itself is fluffy and moist, almost like a pound cake. I even used pineapple tidbits instead of rings which definitely wasnt as pretty but it still came out perfect. Great recipe!

Taste was amazing, but I did make changes. maraschino cherries are bleached and dipped in corn syrup and food coloring, so I only use fresh or frozen real cherries. I also used fresh pineapple and cut it on a plate that would capture the juice and pressed some more juice out of it. I also only used 1/3 cup of raw sugar not processed sugar, 1/3 cup of apple sauce, I melted the butter for the topping and added honey to melt it and melted the butter for the batter and added honey to it also. Simply amazing!

Objective:  Photon-induced photoacoustic streaming (PIPS) with pineapple peel extract (PPE) and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) as a final endodontic irrigant on the push-out bond strength (PBS) of root filling material to conventional irrigation NaOCl with EDTA.

Conclusion:  Photon-induced photoacoustic streaming with pineapple peel extract and EDTA demonstrated better bond strength of root canal sealer and have the potential to be used as the final irrigant.

Hey there! I'm Kathy, lover of kitty cats, weekend baking, 90's movies, travel, beach fog and foamy lattes. Since 2007, I have been sharing my vegan recipes and photos. My goal is to make your cooking life a little easier, delicious - and plant-loaded - while sharing some LIFE and conversation along the way.

This is the lunch that President Richard Nixon ate on August 8, 1974, just before going on national television to announce that he was resigning. White House photographer Robert Knudsen captured it on film. The next day, Nixon boarded a plane for California.

By the standards of official White House photography, this image is spare and melancholy, almost shockingly so. Typical White House photography "is so people-focused," says Jon Fletcher, an archivist at that National Archives who is responsible for the Nixon Administration photographs.

Fletcher could not remember offhand any other photo in the collection that is devoted to food itself. After our conversation, he did a search and came up with a few images from Nixon's trip to China that featured tables filled with food that had been prepared for the visiting American president.

Those images, though, show occasions of promise and possibility. The pre-resignation meal is the opposite. Ryan Kellman, one of our photographers here at NPR, described it as "so sad, austere, stately, funny."

This is a great slaw to serve with a summer picnic, a family cookout or backyard barbecue. We enjoy it a lot with pineapple bbq chicken kabobs or with crockpot BBQ pulled pork sandwiches (ahem, crockpot pineapple bbq pulled pork, anyone?).

I was truly looking forward to a good pineapple cake however it was a complete disappointment. There was absolutely no pineapple flavor whatsoever. The cake itself was ok but no pineapple flavor. I will be experminting with this recipe to see what I can come up with to make it better.

I love this recipe! I have used it for 2 years now. It is now a tradition to have it at Thanksgiving. Everyone loves it and finds it so refreshing. Even my husband who is not huge on pineapple overall loves it.

The 2nd time I made the pineapple juice cake, I tried a coconut cream pudding mix in the cake batter. For the glaze, I did 1/2 cup pineapple juice and 1/4 cup of Malibu rum. We had a Malibu and pineapple juice based party punch so it matched the theme. It worked really well.

Hello Stacey,

I made it and it came out amazing, just like the picture posted. Everyone loved it, the only change I made is that I reduced the pineapple juice by 1/4 and replaced it with vodka. It was definitely a hit????

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- By sequencing its genome, scientists are homing in on the genes and genetic pathways that allow the juicy pineapple plant to thrive in water-limited environments. The new findings, reported in the journal Nature Genetics, also open a new window on the complicated evolutionary history of grasses like sorghum and rice, which share a distant ancestor with pineapple.

Humans have cultivated pineapple for more than 6,000 years, beginning in present-day southwest Brazil and northeast Paraguay. Today, more than 85 countries produce about 25 million metric tons of pineapple fruit each year, with a gross production value approaching $9 billion.

Like many plants, the ancestors of pineapple and grasses experienced multiple doublings of their genomes. Tracking the remnants of these "whole-genome duplications" in different plant species helps researchers trace their shared - and independent - evolutionary histories.

"Our analysis indicates that the pineapple genome has one fewer whole genome duplication than the grasses that share an ancestor with pineapple, making pineapple the best comparison group for the study of cereal crop genomes," said University of Illinois plant biology professor Ray Ming, who led the multi-institutional pineapple genome sequencing effort. The work uncovered evidence of two whole-genome duplications in the pineapple's history, and validated previous findings of three such duplications in grasses.

Photosynthesis converts solar energy to chemical energy, allowing plants to build the tissues that sustain life on Earth. Pineapple makes use of a special type of photosynthesis, called crassulacean acid metabolism, or CAM, which has evolved independently in more than 10,000 plant species. Pineapple is the most economically valuable plant among those 10,000 species, Ming said.

A closer look at the pineapple genome revealed that some genes that contribute to CAM photosynthesis are regulated by the plant's circadian clock genes, which allow plants to differentiate day and night and adjust their metabolism accordingly.

"This is the first time scientists have found a link between regulatory elements of CAM photosynthesis genes and circadian clock regulation," Ming said. "This makes sense, because CAM photosynthesis allows plants to close the pores in their leaves during the day and open them at night. This contributes to pineapple's resilience in hot, arid climates, as the plant loses very little moisture through its leaves during the day."

CAM and C4 photosynthesis, which is common among grasses, use many of the same enzymes to concentrate carbon dioxide in plant leaves, the researchers report. Other plants, such as soybeans, use the less efficient C3 photosynthesis, which lacks the CO2-concentrating mechanisms of C4 and CAM photosynthesis.

For example, the U.S. Department of Energy has funded a project to explore the genetic mechanisms that enable CAM photosynthesis and drought tolerance in desert-adapted plants - with the aim of introducing those traits to potential biofuels crops.

Rowan has a fantastic mix of being extremely relaxed, good fun and most importantly, superb at organising people! The photos taken really captured the vibe of the wedding. Everybody loved them! Rowan was excellent at being present and commanding at points and totally invisible at others.

Don't hesitate in booking Rowan to shoot your wedding! This was absolutely the least stressful part of planning the day and it was so nice to know that we were going to have the kind of photos we really wanted. The pre wedding Skype calls were great for getting to know each other and really drill down into the detail of what we wanted from the photos.
