Hello, i was caught in the rain and now my iPhone XS Max is not working. The screen will come on but it does not react to anything that i push. I am aware that these phones are "waterproof" so unsure how rain can do so much damage. Can you please help me with getting my iPhone to work again?

I have an iPhone 11 and the rain and lightning is not showing on the weather app although it does show on old iPhone 8 Plus. I checked the accessibility settings and they are set the same. How can I fix this on iPhone 11?

We appreciate you checking Reduce Motion. You specifically mentioned rain and lightning animations, any others also missing like the clouds moving when it's partly or mostly cloudy? Another setting that can impact this is Settings > Display & Brightness > View. Make sure it is set to Standard, not Display Zoom. If it is set to Display Zoom, choose Standard, then Set at the top right. Your device will restart.

You mentioned having checked Accessibility settings on both devices. One we want to be sure to check specifically on your iPhone 11 is Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Reduce Motion and be sure that settings is turned off.

After some googling, I see many articles on circumstances where an iPhone can be used, but none that say definitely that is perfectly okay to actually do so (or whether it's risky to do so). Also problematic is that most of the top google results come from news paper websites, which are not technical in nature, and therefore not the best sources of such specific questions, and often word sentences to avoid committing to any specifics (and worse, some are speculative i.e. written before the details were released by apple!).

For dirt and debris, this means that some dust that's kicked up from a gust of wind is fine. Going through a sand storm in the desert is not. As for water, this means you can safely submerge your phone in water about 18 feet deep (deep end of a pool) for about 30 mins (10 mins longer than the 20 required for you to stay out after you eat).

Can you go swimming with it? Not really. These ratings are for water and it doesn't cover chemicals like chlorine or the salinity of ocean water. Can you drop it in your tankard of ale? Nope. It's not certified for booze.

Can you use it in the shower? It depends, if it's just the standard (builder) shower head that you get "with the house" you're probably fine. If it's a fancy massaging shower head that pressurizes the water with those oh, so pleasing pulsing jets of water, then no.

As for a rain storm, if you get wet while in a light to moderate shower, you should be fine. But if you're thinking of continuing your conversation in an all day downpour or while you report on a hurricane/tropical storm making landfall, then no, it won't survive. Remember, even submerged, there's a maximum amount of time it can stay submerged.

It's water resistant not water proof. Apple's technical specifications tells us exactly what the resistance levels to dust and water are. If you happen to get wet (in the rain) while using your phone, you should be fine. They tell you how to dry it off and how long to do so before charging because water conducts electricity. This is to prevent short circuits when connecting up to 20V to your phone.

Besides, talking in a heavy downpour is logistically next to impossible. It's loud - the person on the other end will have difficulty hearing you as you will with your caller. As a resident of Florida, I can attest that a severe downpour while sheltered is still very difficult to hold a conversation.

Many people use sound machines and sleep sound apps, but you don't actually need those if you have an iPhone. There's a rain sounds and white noise player buried deep in the Settings. We can make it easier to use.

While not technically a "secret," the sleep sounds built into iOS are not easy to find. Apple has them labeled as "Background Sounds," and they're four levels deep in the Accessibility settings. Siri can't start the sleep sounds, so you're stuck navigating the settings just to turn it on or off.

The good news is you can make a Shortcut to drastically improve the experience. The benefit is you don't need to rely on a third-party app that could have annoying ads or stream over the internet all night.

This is a much, much easier way to turn the sleep sounds on at night. It's strange that Apple has this feature buried so deep in the settings. The fact that Siri can't even play them---when Google Assistant has the ability---is even more odd.

my iPhone 6s got wet in rain today when I was going somewhere. Although my iPhone was in my pocket during rain I checked it when I reached home after 2hrs. It was wet from back and from Front side although it was in a cover/case. What to do now??? I know that iPhone 6s is not water resistant. i'm so worried .

I'd remove it from its case. The easiest and cheapest thing would be to let it dry out for a day or two before turning it on, then see if any problems develop. If there are any problems then make an appointment at a Genius Bar. It is possible there aren't any problems and you were lucky (I know somebody who dropped their phone in water for 2 seconds and it still works a year later).

Genius Bar appointment - Unfortunately Apple has made this difficult to get to directly. Go to > Get hardware help. Select your hardware and continue selecting options requiring replacing parts until you see "Bring in for Repair" --> Sign in with Apple ID

How to find your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) or Apple Authorized Distributor (AAD) - or see if you can find any service locations in Some places with limited support may be included in the "other" link at the bottom of a region selection.

Yes, it's true! Your iPhone has built-in nature sounds that can be played continuously. If you, like me, doze off to sleep more quickly with white noise playing in the background, you'll greatly benefit from this little-known iOS trick.

After a quick trip to the Settings app, you can set up your iPhone to play ocean sounds, the pitter-patter of rain, and more. Follow the instructions below to fire up some nature sounds while you sleep.

6 months ago i used my Iphone X on the rain and it went off few times after it untill December. A month ago it went off suddenly again and never turned back on! I gave to Apple Service and after 20 days they said there is liquid contact with motherboard and i have to pay to get it fixed. I am informed that the phone have no "water proof" but I DID NOT SEE ANYWHERE IS WRITTEN "I CAN NOT USE THIS PHONE ON THE RAIN" I am simply surprised. I can not even know if someone puts some water onto it to make it out of warranty at the service! I lost my trust on Apple Inc.

I know the indicators. But my situation and also request are totally different. Im trying to say that 6 months later after contact with the water made my motherboard broken with the reason of liquid contact as they said.

When I got under the rain for the first time with my iPhone 7 Plus, I was supper worried, cause I knew that water damage is not covered by warranty and that rain started so unexpectedly and quick, and brought my iPhone to the service. They checked the indicators, took it apart and told me that water didn't get in. And explained the whole process. 152ee80cbc
