Does anyone besides me realize that any time any call is made by a Verizon cell customer to any part of the Verizon company (w/the exception of *611 - which only handles cell questions) - that WE ARE CHARGED FOR OUR CALLS TO THE COMPANY FROM WHICH WE PURCHASE SERVICE? My family no longer has a home phone number; we all have Verizon cell phones, so a home landline became redundant. If I call Verizon regarding any problems with my other accounts - business, ISDN, FIOS or internet (they catch a lot of money from us every month - more and more every month it seems) from my cell phone - which is the only phone I use - VERIZON CHARGES ME "800 MINUTES" FOR EVERY CALL - and those minutes are separate from my plan and are NOT considered VERIZON TO VERIZON. So if I call Verizon (other than re:my cell on 611), THEY CHARGE ME HUGE MINUTES WHILE THEY PUT ME ON HOLD AND WATCH MY LINE BLINK, ONLY TO COME BACK AND GIVE ME THE REAL CORRECT NUMBER TO CALL - EVEN THOUGH I CALLED THE 800 NUMER THAT WAS ON THE BILL! This is not fair at the very least, and an unethical and bad faith business practice at its worst; I either get another landline which I don't need, or pay the price. This practice is yet another way Verizon creates another opportunity to rack up more minutes and charge us for them, and most of which, adding insult to injury, WERE SPENT ON HOLD WAITING FOR CUSTOMER "SERVICE." How do you think they got so rich?

VZW gives free mobile to mobile calling to other VZW customers. Verizon is a separate entity. When you call toll-free numbers, that is the same as calling a landline, so these wouldn't be free calls. I don't see what's unfair about this.

If calling VZW why would you not call 611????? Also if an issue with the phone you need to call from another phone, so minutes would not be accrued. This is nothing new..... Been this way since the first bag phone WAY back in the last century.

21stNow's answer is correct; Verizon Wireless offers free phone calls to customer service using the (611) phone number, not the toll free number. It works the same with emergency services. If you call the dispatch center with your area code, it will charge you, but if you use (911), it will not.

The *611 number to Verizon Wireless Customer Service is listed everywhere from just above the remittance slip on the bill to the "Contact Us" section at the top right of this website. Just as the VZW rep wrote rightly, they have not acted unethically for they offered multiple options to contact them without charging you minutes. More than this, VZW does not hide the toll-free number from their customers.

I just recently upgraded my device on an existing line to an unlocked Samsung s23 ultra and have just noticed I am no longer able to make video calls with the rest of my family. Is there a way to fix this so that I am able to make video calls using the SIM card that is in my device verses having to use google hangouts or facebook messenger.

There is absolutely no reason Verizon doesn't have a capacity to create the methodology for customers to have video calling on an unlocked phone. For God's sakes there still staying with Verizon as a carrier. Video calling should be a reward!

I am experiencing the same issue with my unlocked S23 ultra, to add insult to injury I moved over from ATT with an unlocked pixel 7 pro and video calling worked just fine for that device. It's not like samsung doesn't build video calling into the phones after all.

I just got an unlocked S23 Ultra. I cannot believe that Verizon does not allow video calling. My family uses that feature frequently, and I am beyond upset over this. What is this, punishment because I don't have a branded phone? I'm still using their service! We've been loyal customers for almost 30 years now, but this has us thinking it is time to switch carriers. Unless Verizon fixes this issue, they are going to lose my whole family.

It's ridiculous, one of my kids has an old Verizon branded phone that will make Verizon video calls, even if I put a mint mobile card in it, but my other has an unbranded unlocked phone that won't, even though she's on my Verizon plan.

When I dial the customer service number for Verizon wireless (1-800-922-0204) from my Tracfone, I get a recording telling me to call a different # (1-800-353-1842). I am greeted by a recording thanking me for calling Tracfone. It goes downhill from there.

I am a Verizon customer. I have a verizon 890L Jetpack wireless wifi modem. When I call for verizon service, regardless of the phone I use to make the call, I need to talk to VERIZON customer service. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there another number I can call that won't shunt me off to a dead end?

Sorry, I don't think I was clear enuf in my first post. My tracfone has plenty of time, and was working fine. I emailed Verizon and got a call back from a very helpful girl named Debbie. She was surprised by the result after calling me on a landline and having me demonstrate the problem using my tracfone. Apparently, if you call the regular number using a Tracfone, Straight Talk or a Net10 phone, which are all affiliated with Verizon, the system directs you to call the tracfone service number without allowing access to Verizon. I see where this is possible, because Debbie was able to quickly identify my phone as a Straight Talk phone by the phone #. Not quite right, but that's what their system sees my phone as.

It does sound like you don't have tracfone minutes on your phone but we could be wrong. Your jetpack has a phone number you will need that phone number when you call Verizon to get through their automated machine.

I tried to call the UK this morning, a number that is active and I have used in the past and I keep getting Verizon saying they cannot complete the call.. as in the past, I used 011 44 and then the number.. why all of a sudden am I not able to complete the call?.. has something changed with Verizon??.. Verizon didn't say why they couldn't complete the call...

You have to have International Dialing allowed on your line because akin this type of call requires that you pay per minute you are on the call. Customer service should have been able to help you with that. You can try 1-800-711-8300 to get to Global Support. They may be more helpful.

ckittydo, let's get you connected to your friends/family in the UK today! You will need the free International Dialing feature to your line to enable international calling from your wireless device. You may do so online at My Verizon. Just click for all the information you need regarding how to make an international call from your device.

How funny I cannot call out international and I am paying for the service since 6/8/2021.! That includes 800 numbers so the support number does me absolutely no good. Nor can my boyfriend who has the same service. This is the first time we have not had service for international calling. Very frustrating. I am now telling all my friends and family to use whatsapp to contact me. That is the only thing that works.!!!! $10/day very poor process

I get a lot of spam/robocalls (usually around 5 per day) and I recently signed up for verizon's "Call Filter" app which seems to block most of them, however it looks like the ones that still get through are VoIP calls that show a name or business unlike most of the blocked calls which show "UNKNOWN NAME". It could be that these particular calls are legitimate numbers being spoofed by scammers. It would be nice if there was a option for this app to block all VoIP calls, is this a possibility?

I had the exact same problem. The simple fact of the matter is that if Verizon wanted you to block this type of number, they would let you do so and the App would actually be useful. I no longer pay $2.99/month for this silly service. Instead, I suggest that you enable "Do Not Disturb" feature on your phone and set it up so that only callers who are on your Contacts list can get through. Much less distraction than Verizon's app where you pay them $2.99/mo to populate thier SPAM Database with numbers they already know. Here is how the Spammers work. 1) They have robots which will call phone numbers looking for the ones which are disconnected or out of service. They harvest these numbers in a database. 2) When spammers call you they use VoIP originated calls and equipment which spoofs a phone number using a number from this database of theirs. 3) You then pay $2.99/month for the privilege of entering these numbers indicating that the callers were SPAM. Verizon can solve this problem in the short-term by allowing users to block VoIP numbers. Then Spammer's will change to target their bots to older people and then harvest those numbers so when you get real angry and call back, some old man answers wondering why you are so angry.

The Solution is for Verizon to release STIR/SHAKN See -authentication and this will allow for all of this SPAM to virtually vanish. So Verizon, where are you on your STIR/SHAKEN implementation? 2351a5e196
