Today, however, new live streaming platforms have eliminated the need for things like hardware encoders, streaming servers, CDNs, overlay networks, and even the need for on-site support. And as live streaming has become easier, the idea of live streaming lectures is once again piquing the interest of educators across campuses everywhere.

Overcoming capacity challenges. As the University of Central Florida saw its enrollment numbers skyrocket, existing classrooms began to overflow with more students than there were seats. And since the school could only build new facilities so fast, they had to get a little more creative with a solution. They began live streaming over-filled lectures into other spaces on campus in order to accommodate more students and offer them the same experience they would get in the main lecture hall. Students could even watch live lectures remotely from anywhere on their mobile devices.

Watch from anywhere on any device. Panopto automatically detects the device and strength of connection for viewers in order to deliver the highest quality viewing experience optimized for their screen with minimal buffering. That means that viewers can view the live stream from anywhere on a mobile device, laptop, or desktop.

@Jack Jacobson Just wanted to say that Panopto does have a feature that allows you to record from two different machines into one recording, but I don't think this will be what you are looking for as it is mostly used to record the camera/mic from one machine and the screen from another.

I think the easiest thing to do if you are co-presenting is to start a web conferencing meeting (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet), do the lecture there and record the meeting, and then upload the recording to Panopto.

If you are going to be recording asynchronously, you could do this with Panopto by using the "Resume Recording" feature. While I haven't tried this from two different computers, there shouldn't be any reason why it wouldn't work.

The School of Medicine Panopto lecture capture service records presentation, audio, and camera (in select rooms*) of lectures, meetings, and events, providing on-demand playback and asynchronous learning for students. Zoom and other recordings can also be uploaded into Panopto for streaming.

Faculty wishing to provide an asynchronous learning experience for hybrid courses, or to delve into special topics that cannot be covered during class time, can record lectures anywhere using Panopto Recorder software on their laptop or desktop computer.

People not affiliated with the School of Medicine must give written consent for their lecture or presentation to be recorded. The party requesting the lecture capture is responsible for ensuring that consent is obtained, and that they are complying with all applicable policies.

Panopto is a secure video recording and hosting solution at Columbia. Instructors can use Panopto to record lectures with their computers, including screen capturing the desktop with voice over. Once these videos are recorded and finalized, they can easily be shared with students.

If Panopto is not in the Navigation list, you can request CUIT activate this service for your course. Send an email request to panopto@columbia.edu; include the full course number and your UNI. Once CUIT has activated Panopto in your course, follow the steps above to enable the service.

Clicking on the Panopto Recordings link from the CourseWorks navigation will bring you to the Panopto interface. This page allows you to upload a video from your desktop, record a new video, create a playlist, or add subfolders to organize content. By default, only instructors can create and record videos for a course. For individual assignments, students can be given permission to create and upload videos. See this additional information for finding and viewing video material in Panopto.

Panopto offers students and instructors the ability to record, edit, store, and share videos, directly from within the Panopto environment. Alternatively, users can choose to create videos with applications other than Panopto. Once their videos are ready, users can upload these videos to Panopto to store or share.

This really depends on the needs / structure of your course and how you want to deliver your content. Simple guidelines to follow are if you want to interact with students while you lecture, then we recommend Zoom. If you prefer to pre-record your lectures and allow students to watch them on their own, we recommend Panopto. To learn more about Zoom to support your course visit the Teach Anywhere Zoom Support page, or visit the Panopto homepage for more information on how to use Panopto.

Yes, you can download your Zoom session from your stanford.zoom.us portal and upload the content to the Panopto Course Videos tab in Canvas via the Create > Upload Media button. You must be the host of the Zoom session in-order to download the content. For more information on how to upload a video file to your Panopto Course Videos tab, please visit this How to Upload Video Files page.

Panopto Lecture Capture and Personal Capture allow instructors to create recordings of classroom lectures or presentations, including audio, video and screen content, and share them with students online and in Canvas. Panopto is compatible with all browsers, but if you use Safari you will need to change the default settings to allow for third party cookies and cross-tracking. Once completed, restart Safari before reentering Panopto from your Canvas site.

If your course is scheduled in room equipped with lecture capture can complete this form, including your course name, number, and meeting schedule, in order to opt into lecture capture. Classroom recordings are scheduled by Center for Digital Innovation in Learning (CDIL) staff at the beginning of each semester. Recordings start and end automatically based on this schedule.

After each class period the recording is uploaded and compressed and stored in the associated Canvas course. When completing the request form, you can choose whether or not the recordings are automatically accessible to students, though by default they are hidden from student view. Throughout the semester, you can publish individual recordings or make all recordings available by default. Editing options are available. The finished recordings are viewable on both Mac and PC platforms.

Panopto also serves as a tool to flip and blend online and in-person formats as well as an important safety net for uninterrupted delivery of course content. Instructors can easily record their lectures from anywhere and post them online for the benefit of their students.

Portable Panopto kits are available to check out from the main circulation desk at the University Library (Evanston campus). Each kit includes everything needed to produce a Panopto recording for either PC or Mac, as well as a helpful guide to get you started.

Viewers can download recorded lecture content via Panopto, which is particularly helpful for those with limited internet access. Students are not allowed to share or disseminate recorded lecture content, as explained in the University policy.

In order to use Panopto, you will first need to log in to the Lecture Capture Website - please do this now (using your SSO), so that links elsewhere in the guidance work correctly. Note that this year's lecture capture website is different to last year's and if you need to get access to your old videos there will be guidance forthcoming how to move them across. If you need access to those videos now before we move them across automatically, please email @email .

Panopto is meant for educational purposes only and allows for easy recording and reviewing of courses, lectures, and presentations. As a cloud-enabled service, UW has strongly integrated Panopto with Canvas to simplify the lecture capture process for course instruction and viewing. Recordings in Panopto are viewable on most Web browsers and mobile devices. Create content from your office, classroom or home.

So another professor would like to use your recording from last year in their course? Simply sending them a link to put into their Canvas course is not enough. That original link has permissions for ONLY the original Canvas folder.

Here are steps for you, as well as for the receiving instructor, to follow to move a copy of the video into another Canvas course.

You can share any of your videos by manually adding other UW members to your share list. Simply locate your video (your course folder, My Folder, or from any folder you may have created) open the Share settings, and enter a valid UWNetID.

Panopto can be used for recording lectures in the classroom but you can also use it from any platform to create supplemental content for your courses as well. Not all classrooms on campus are equipped with the audio and/or video equipment necessary to run the lecture capture software. If you go to our Advanced Technology Classroom page, under the Equipment list you can sort the rooms by "Lecture Capture" to obtain a full list of the rooms that have it available on campus. Even if a classroom is not currently set up with recording equipment, we can still make arrangements for you to use Panopto in any space on campus.

Panopto is Wright State's new academic media management system that records content shown in a classroom, such as a PowerPoint presentation, along with the instructor's audio from the class session. Instructors can also record videos of themselves teaching the lecture. Panopto recordings are meant to be used as supplemental instruction for a student to view after a classroom session. Panopto is available to all students, but can only be viewed through a Pilot course that has the Panopto functionality turned on. 006ab0faaa
