According to the Epic Games website this apparently fixes a lot of issues because the game uses the cache to load things faster and such but over time it can become corrupted. I've never cleared the cache before. And don't worry about it messing anything up. It'll just repopulate the folder the next time you launch the game.

Some of you might ask if clearing Steam cache will delete your games. Of course not. It just removes unnecessary and unwanted junk files from your device to make the game run more smoothly, so you can rest assure on that.

To help improve gameplay, temporary files and data are often stored on your console. Over time, this cached data might become corrupted, which can lead to issues with connectivity, game freezes, or slow or unsuccessful game loads.

A good first step to resolving these issues is clearing the cache on your console or verifying the integrity of the game cache on your PC. In more extreme cases, it might be necessary to delete saved game data. Follow the steps depending on your platform.

Unfortunately, all models of the Steam Deck can run out of space fairly quickly. Even after a game is uninstalled from the console, it leaves traces behind called shader cache. This guide will teach Steam Deck users the easiest and fastest method to clear the shader cache and free up more space on the Steam Deck.

Updated on December 15, 2023, by Michael Llewellyn: Even though the more spacious models of the Steam Deck can run out of space far too quickly. This is especially so when triple-A games demand more space on the hard drive. It's always a good idea to have some viable option to clear out the cache on the Steam Deck and get better performance from the machine. This guide now includes an alternative program to clear space on the Steam Deck.

Before trying to clear the cache to free up space on the Steam Deck, users must first install a plugin called Decky Loader. Decky allows users to install several helpful tools to make the handheld more versatile and customizable, from new boot videos to general maintenance and performance improvements. To install Decky Loader, use the following steps:

If Steam keeps acting up or downloading games at a crawl, you may need to clear your download cache. This is where Steam stores temporary download files, but it can sometimes cause problems with the gaming client. Here's how (and when) to clear it.

You may need to clear the download cache if you have trouble downloading games through Steam, your download speeds are slow, or the installed games fail to load. Clearing the cache can also help resolve errors users encounter when downloading or running games, such as error 16.

When you clear the download cache, Steam logs you out of your account and cancels your pending downloads. The download queue is cleared and any mods you have installed are also removed. While logging back into your account takes just a few seconds, unintentional removal of mods and download cancelations can be frustrating.

Likewise, let any pending downloads complete before you clear the cache. You cannot preserve download progress if your download has stalled and the only way to resolve the issue is to clear the cache.

I am doing WorkTheSpace RB Barca challenge. I have the logos and kits in the right folder. But on the original skin it won't load as I haven't cleared my cache and this is the skin I was using prior to putting the logos in game.

Also. On this new skin my manager game face is now gone. As you can see it's the blackface cut out despite having my 3d model loaded in!? I presume clearing the cache will help but I cannot find it on preferences > interface...

Every time you use an application, like Chrome or Steam, they store certain information that helps applications load faster in a place called the cache. You can think of this as a backpack your browser carries around with you. Every time you load a website, this backpack helps it load faster.

However, over time, this backpack can start filling up, making your application feel slow. But, if you clear your backpack, you are off to a fresh start. This can optimize your user experience and help with smoother gaming.

In theory, not clearing it does help with the overall browser experience. However, when websites get updated, not deleting the cache may slow your experience. The same goes for browser updates.

If you want the most up-to-date version of a website, removing cached data helps. It is also a good practice to do it occasionally, perhaps once a month. To sum it up, I have created bullet points below when websites or browsers get updated.

The same goes for Gaming Applications like Steam. Oftentimes, clearing up cache in gaming applications helps reduce bugs and errors, especially those that revolve around networking issues.

The CCleaner can clear cookies, browsing history, and temporary files. It can also fix errors in the Windows registry through its registry cleaner.

Upon clicking Analyze, CCleaner will show the amount of storage it can clear by running it. If you find it acceptable, you may press the option of Run Cleaner to clean out your PC.

Clearing Cache in browsers helps in improving the overall experience in web-based gaming. It can also improve speed and delete incorrect information stored in the browser cache, like old passwords.

There are two methods for clearing browser data in Google Chrome. The first one should be used if you do not clean your cache often. The second one is for those users who do it more frequently.

.Finally, you will have this extension in your Chrome barExtensions in Chrome (Image by eXputer) You can pin it to access it at any time.Boom! You are all done. You will experience a much smoother browsing experience, especially if your cache is bloated.

You do not need to worry if you are an Apple User because I also have you covered. The steps for clearing your cookies on Safari are slightly different than other browsers, so pay attention.

After that, when you are in Game Mode, find the non-steam games tab in your library and run the script. You can use the touchpad or set up a control scheme to use the trackpads. But after it is done, it will automatically close and bring you back to your Steam UI.

That's it! Now, periodically, you can go ahead and delete the shader cache to free up some space on your Deck. Super easy right? And again, a HUGE thank you to MiaPepsi for creating this awesome little script. We have talked to her about the possibility of adding in a way to pick and choose which shader cache folders to delete based on the game, which she seemed very open to!

You may be asking yourself, "Why do I need to clear/remove the cached Steam addons on my server?" The most likely reason is: SSD usage of your server. Simply removing an addon from your Steam Workshop collection does not remove the addon from your server completely. Garry's Mod caches things heavily, so sometimes the cache needs to be cleared. Your current collection could only have 50 addons in it, but if you've been trying out many different collections on your server, you very well could easily have HUNDREDS of addons cached on your server. Yikes.

Last year or so i didnt have much problems with steam downloading. But in the past it was always a circus.

Dowloading 10mb, then minutes pass by without any progression...

Like Invincible says, and I used to restart steam every time to force it to download a few mbs.

I think it might be a firewall issue conflicting with steam or something I dunno. Check Firewall, Antivirus, VPN, regions or whatever...

I was able to get it to complete the download but its getting stuck on 2% installing now. I have exited, rebooted and restarted steam multiple times. I have 90 GB free on my SSD after the download. I am at a loss on what else to try. Ark is the only game that I have these issues with. It is beyond frustrating that it happened with Evolved and now the same crap with Ascended.

3rd time trying to install, same routine. Gets stuck on Reserving at 2%, I exit steam, end process on all steam entries, restart steam and reserving finishes. Update finishes then goes to install and hangs at 2%. This issue just started with the latest update.

The only way i am able to fix this is to force close steam from task manager then uninstall it and reinstall it. I had to reinstall it like 7 times over the past 2 days but it fixes for a decent amount of time. I notice that whenever i verify game files after its done reinstalling it restores 900 files, but ASA isn't even 900 files.
