My Ideal Client Mood Board

This mood board centers on Lilith, the protagonist of DAWN by Octavia Butler, as she prepares for the birth of the first human-Oankali hybrid child. Inspired by the Oankali’s use of organic materials, Lilith’s baby shower look features adaptive fabrics that evolve with her changing body.

Design inspirations include Peter Dundas’ gowns for Beyoncé’s 2017 Grammy performance and Rihanna’s confident, body-conscious maternity style. The palette draws from Monarch butterflies, honey, gold, and kyawthuite—symbols of rebirth, light, rarity, and fertility. The fabric flows like honey, echoing Lilith’s movements.

The look is deeply rooted in African spirituality, with golden body paint inspired by the Yoruba practice of Ori and the Orisha Oshun, symbolizing femininity, beauty, and fertility—honoring Lilith’s Earthly and ancestral origins.
