The mission of the Heart of Texas Jr Cycling team is to get more kids safely on bikes while instilling a lifelong passion for cycling, developing character, athletic ability and leadership skills in a fun environment, promoting academic excellence, and racing competitively with integrity.
The National Interscholastic Cycling Association or NICA for short, is a national organization dedicated to getting more kids on bikes. The Heart of Texas team is a part of the northern conference in the Texas NICA league. Texas begins racing in the spring and students are encouraged to enroll in teams during fall. The NICA mission is to build strong minds, bodies, character, and communities through cycling.
The race series occurs in the spring and is a best 3 out of 5 conference series with bonus points for completing 4 races followed by a state championship race. Race categories are available for all skill levels from the beginner to the most elite athlete.
