We had our MRHS HOSA booth for club week on Septmeber 11th, where we hosted games and gave out prizes. We also included news on NCHOSA Sandhills Regional Officer Application and Union EMS Juniors. This month, we also held our membership meeting on September 18th during B lunch in the auditorium. At that meeting we discussed what HOSA was as well as responsibilities, service, and competition. People signed up for RLC after this meeting. Multiple guest speakers also visited in September.
October was a pretty exciting month for the Marvin Ridge High School HOSA chapter! We started off our fundraising with our first Chipotle fundraiser night of the year, which went really well. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us! RLC testing also took place, and we had a lot of finalists all around. The highlight of our month, though, was our bi-annual Blood Drive. We were able to collect 91 units of blood, surpassing last year’s amount! This event would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of our members, volunteers, and donors!
During the month of November our HOSA chapter had a hospital drive for Levine childrens hospital. After this service event we celebrated the holidays with MRHS HOSA. There was turkey painting as well as an SLC event introduction! Later in the month we had a movie time to get to know the other HOSA members. We dontated tons of toys, such as, board games, card games, dolls and other fun things to the Levine childrens hospital. We had a competition for best t-shirt design, and the winner was announced in our monthly November meeting.
December was an interesting and festive month for HOSA! We had a fun HOSA movie night where we watched the grinch at the beginning of the month. We hosted holiday card making and made cards for healthcare workers thanking them for their service. A few days later we had club pictures for HOSA! Right before Winter Break, we had a Happy HOSA Holiday meeting where we discussed what type of SLC event would be best for us - presentation, testing, or recognition events. We had to fill out a google form to confirm our SLC event choice. After the meeting, we had different stations where we had the opportunity to play jeopardy, win candy, and paint hand turkeys!
The month of January was quite eventful for us! We finalized everything for SLC including payments, rooming, events, and more. We also hosted a flashcard drive where we, as a chapter, created flashcards for elementary schoolers(moved to February). Additionally, one of our former presidents, now an EMT, came in to talk about emergency medical services. We also sent out a reminder to join the SLC Remind for updates and we also included respective Reminds for testing, skills and presentation that SLC competitors joined.
February brought a wave of excitement to the Marvin Ridge High School HOSA Chapter. With the State Leadership Conference being just a month away, our chapter was vibrant with activity and preparation. First, our chapter held a flash card drive aimed to aid elementary students which was rescheduled from January. We continued fundraising by hosting our first Chipotle Night of 2025! Thank you to all participants for helping fund our chapter. To kickstart some final preparation for SLC, our officer team hosted a plethora of study sessions for competitors in testing events throughout the month. Alongside that, practice workshops and sessions were hosted for competitors in Skills events. To close out the month and ensure complete readiness for SLC, our communication officers regularly updated the club Remind and GroupMe.
