horseracingform.co.uk is the home for free horse racing form ratings for over 25,000 racehorses running in the UK and Ireland. Ratings cover Flat, All-Weather and National Hunt (Chase & Hurdles) racing.

Ratings will typically be published on a weekly basis and, when time allows, we will provide midweek updates and selected ratings for the days racing.

A Complete Horse Racing Form Guide For Flat and National Hunt

As well as ratings for over 25,000 racehorses, we provide comprehensive analysis of the race conditions that appear to best suit each horse that we rate. Our ratings downloads provide the following:

• Current Rating

• Best Rating (achieved during the period covered by the ratings - typically up to 2 seasons worth of form)

• Rating achieved in each of last 4 outings

• Date that current rating achieved

• Date of last outing

• Form Figures (i.e. Placings) for last 4 outings

• Distance & Going raced over on last outing

• Going upon which best form returned

• Going upon which horse is either unproven, or has no recent form

• Distance (or range) over which best form returned

• Longest Distance over which the horse has raced, but failed to return best form

• Favoured Track Orientation (Left Hand, Right Hand, etc)

• Favoured Track Type (Galloping or Specialist)

• Track upon which best form most recently returned and a further flag if horse has repeated best form on that track more than once

• A second rating method is employed on 'Daily Ratings' sheets which takes account of core rating plus race conditions (other than going) 

We believe our Ratings and associated Form Guide to be amongst the best available and whilst we appreciate donations (via Paypal) to support the upkeep of our site and the service we provide, all of our downloads provide the above analysis and are completely FREE.

How we Calculate  our Ratings

The ratings are computer generated using code and algorithms which have been exclusively developed over the last 4-5 years.  

An initial classification is allotted to each race result which is then further adjusted to take into account race times and prior and subsequent form. As such, the ratings are dynamic and will change as form lines evolve.

Analysis of over 17000 races in 2024/25 found that approaching 40% of all races were won by one or other of the top two rated in each race, over 50% of races were won by one or other of the top three rated. One or other of the top two rated were placed in around 70% of races.

As part of our analysis, we also identify the race conditions (Going & Distance) where each horse has ran up to its best form and similarly the type of course (Orientation & Type - Galloping or Specialist) that appears to best suit.

The ratings, which are free and available to download, can be used to supplement your own evaluation of horse racing form, or perhaps as the basis for developing your own handicap ratings. 

In summary, our downloads provide horse racing enthusiasts with form ratings and a wealth of supporting information for horses that have raced in the UK and Ireland over the past one to two seasons. Our ratings cover Flat, All Weather and National Hunt Racing.
