Free Horse Racing Form Ratings last updated 28 June 2026. Next update 4 July
When we calculate our form ratings an initial classification/rating is allotted to each race result, which is then further adjusted to take into account race times and prior and subsequent form. As such, the form ratings are dynamic and will change as form lines evolve.
We have given each racecourse a Classification between 1 (highest) and 4 and the initial rating given to each race is loosely based upon this. These racecourse classifications are merely our opinion, rather than any official assessment and they will periodically be reviewed and amended as appropriate.
The data reproduced below is therefore for interest/information purposes only.
For each historical result evaluated we have taken the winners rating, adjusted it to 10st-0lb (12 st-0lb Nat Hunt) and added back in weight for age where applicable.
For example, the average winning rating for chases at Aintree (adjusted to 12st) was 155.5 and for hurdles was 153.4. Aintree is accordingly given a National Hunt Classification of 1, along with Ascot, Cheltenham, Fairyhouse, Leopardstown and Punchestown.
The top Flat tracks (based on our assessment) are Ascot, Curragh, Epsom, Goodwood, Newmarket and York.
