GOAL

• Continue practicing asking them to move with the reed. Also practice asking them to stop and wait, while staying attentive to any point of entry to establish connection.

OBJETIVO

• Seguir practicando el pedir que se muevan con el bastón. También practicar pedirles que se detengan, esperen, estando atenta a algún punto de entrada para establecer conexión.

LESSON

• I felt that day they didn’t follow me as much as they did the first day when I introduced the reed to them. 

• I had the impression that the foals might not respond quickly to the reed; rather, Vida seems to have learned to move after seeing Alma’s response.

APRENDIZAJE

• Sentí que ese día no me siguieron tanto como lo hicieron el primer día, cuando les introduje el bastón. 

• Tuve la impresión de que los potrillos tal vez no respondan rápidamente al bastón; más bien, Vida parece haber aprendido a moverse después de ver la respuesta de Alma.

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• I arrived and the horses were a bit hidden among the branches, but I saw when Amir noticed me from a distance and it didn’t take long for them to come toward where I was. As they approached, they seemed unsure whether to greet me or not, with a look of hesitation, so there weren’t many greetings at first. I greeted Flash, who seemed happy to see me, and waited a bit before greeting the others. I walked toward the purple flower they like to eat, but that day they showed no interest in it. Then I mainly practiced asking them to move and "hello" with some connection. With Luna there was a lot of interest and connection when I invited her to greet me and asked her to look me in the eyes, with both eyes. With Amir we also had a very sweet moment of connection; he looked me in the eyes and I gave him a bit of affection. At one point he made a kind of air bite, but I stepped aside, made that startled face that still comes naturally to me, and asked him to move using the reed. Afterwards I reflected on whether it was wise to ask him to move at that moment; it felt more like a game, but it’s not something I want him to do with me, so perhaps it was the appropriate choice. I stepped away from him for a while until we reconnected later, and he appeared calm. Mary remained very attached to Amir, and that day we didn’t connect much. There was not as much interest in following me as there had been the previous time, when I introduced the reed. At one point I tried to invite them to go to the water, but they didn’t want to go to another place. Frea responded better to my request to move and stayed very close to Flash the whole time.

• Later, I spent time with the mothers and their foals inside and introduced the reed to them, except for Wakan. She followed me a little, while I was walking with the reed, but I only greeted her briefly, and then she spent almost the whole time sleeping. I practiced with Inca, who appeared protective of the group, closed off, and displeased with my requests; she moved immediately when I asked, but did not want to greet me. Alma understood the request quickly, and Vida did not at first, but after Alma moved, it was as if she had learned from her. I didn’t stay with them for long, as at that time they were more resting than awake.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Llegué y los caballos estaban un poco escondidos entre las ramas, pero vi cuando Amir me vio desde lejos y no tardaron en venir hacia donde yo estaba. Al acercarse, parecían no saber si saludar o no, con una expresión de duda, así que no hubo muchos saludos al principio. Saludé a Flash, que parecía feliz de verme, y esperé un poco antes de saludar a los demás. Caminé hacia la flor púrpura que les gusta comer, pero ese día no mostraron interés en ella. Luego practiqué principalmente pedirles que se movieran y el saludo con algo de conexión. Con Luna hubo mucho interés y conexión cuando la invité a saludar y le pedí que me mirara a los ojos, con ambos ojos. Con Amir también tuvimos un momento muy lindo de conexión; me miró a los ojos y le hice un poco de cariño. En un momento hizo una especie de mordida al aire, pero me esquivé, puse esa cara de espanto que aún me sale de forma natural y le pedí con el bastón que se moviera. Después reflexioné si fue prudente hacerlo en ese momento; parecía más un juego, pero no es algo que quiero que haga, así que tal vez estuvo bien. Me alejé un poco de él por un tiempo hasta que más tarde volvimos a conectar, y se mostró tranquilo. Mary siguió muy apegada a Amir y ese día no nos conectamos mucho. No hubo tanto interés en seguirme por parte de todos como la vez anterior, cuando introduje el bastón. En un momento intenté invitarlos a ir al agua, pero no quisieron moverse. Frea respondió mejor a mi pedido de moverse y estuvo muy cerca de Flash todo el tiempo. 

• Más tarde estuve con las mamás y sus crías adentro e introduje el bastón con ellas, excepto con Wakan. Ella me siguió un poco cuando caminaba con el bastón, pero solo la saludé brevemente y luego pasó casi todo el tiempo durmiendo. Practiqué con Inca, que se mostró protectora del grupo, cerrada y molesta con mis pedidos; se movió de inmediato cuando se lo pedí, pero no quiso saludarme. Alma entendió rápido el pedido y Vida no lo hizo al principio, pero después de que Alma se movió, fue como si hubiera aprendido de ella. No estuve mucho tiempo con ellas porque a esa hora estaban más descansando que despiertas.
