GOAL

LESSON

• I want to clearly separate the request to move from the “Hello”, so they don’t interpret the “Hello” after the movement request as a form of acknowledgment. What I want, instead, is for them to distinguish the two different energies.  A practical strategy is to maintain a short interval between the action and the greeting, using my presence and body language to mark the difference.

• In the exercise of asking the horses to move using the stick, they experienced clarity, confidence, and recognition, without coercion. As a result, they felt more involved and connected. Their immediate response to the stick indicates that the object helped create clarity in my intention. The movement happened because my body intention combined with the stick created a clear and readable message for them. This does not mean that they always need the stick; it simply means that, in that moment, the signal without it was not sufficiently perceptible. I can continue practicing direction and clarity using only my body, ensuring that my intention is clear and consistent. The horse wants to connect with me more because he can feel my leadership.

APRENDIZAJE

• Quiero separar bien el pedido de que se muevan del “Hola”, para que no crean que el “Hola” después del pedido de moverse es un reconocimiento. Lo que quiero, más bien, es que puedan distinguir las dos energías. Una estratégia práctica: es mantener un pequeño intervalo entre la acción y el saludo, usando mi presencia y lenguaje corporal para marcar la diferencia.

• En el ejercicio de pedir que los caballos se movieran utilizando el bastón, ellos experimentaron claridad, seguridad y reconocimiento, sin coerción. Como resultado, se sintieron más involucrados y conectados. Que respondieran inmediatamente al bastón indica que el objeto ayudó a crear claridad en mi intención. El movimiento se produjo porque mi intención corporal combinada con el bastón generó un mensaje claro y legible para ellos. Esto no significa que ellos  necesiten el bastón siempre; simplemente, en ese momento, la señal sin él no era suficientemente perceptible. Puedo seguir practicando la dirección y claridad solo con mi cuerpo, asegurándome de que mi intención sea legible y constante.  El caballo quiere conectar más conmigo porque puede sentir mi liderazgo..

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• When I arrived, the horses (Alma, Vida, and Wakan) were lying down asleep, except for Inca, who seemed to be on guard and stomped firmly when I tried to approach them. So I stepped away and left them alone. Later they woke up, and I spent some quiet time with them inside, but no one came to greet me and I didn’t approach them either. I began by meditating and relaxing, then I read a book. At first they moved away, then returned to where I was, but it wasn’t long before they lay down again. So I didn’t do any exercises with them that day and went to see the herd.

• It was extremely hot and the horses were far out in the field. I saw them notice me and start coming, but I stopped to greet the neighboring horses by the fence and practiced the “hello” and asking them to step back. Some understood, and when they stepped back, I stepped away too, saying, “I’ve seen your response and I stop asking.” Then the herd arrived and I went to be with them. I connected deeply with Mary, who even seemed to hug me and return the affection, and she stayed close to Amir, at one point appearing to protect me so he wouldn’t be intrusive. I later practice "Introducing the Reed” exercise; Flash watched curiously as I walked with the reed, and once everyone was relaxed, I asked them to move individually. All responded except Frea. I also practiced the “hello” with everyone, and again all accepted except Frea, who was unusually distant and testing. Later she lay down near me and fell asleep, snoring. Flash also lay down and fully relaxed, while the others stood in a resting posture. Amir then came over to look, which woke Flash and he stood up.  Flash remained very attentive to me afterward and seemed to want more connection, even wanting to follow me. It was a day of deep interaction and quiet companionship. At one point Flash bit a horse at the fence while I was interacting with him; I felt sorry for that horse and let Flash know it wasn’t necessary. He came to me with his head low, I thanked him for protecting me, apologized to the other horse, and invited him back to connect, while Flash stood watching.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Cuando llegué, los caballos  (Alma, Vida y Wakan) estaban durmiendo tirados en el piso, excepto Inca, que estaba como de guardia y pisó fuerte cuando intenté acercarme a ellos. Así que salí y los dejé solos. Luego despertaron y estuve un rato con ellos adentro, pero nadie se acercó a saludarme y yo tampoco lo hice. Primero estuve meditando y relajándome, luego me puse a leer un libro. Al principio ellos se fueron a un lado y después volvieron a donde yo estaba. Pero no pasó mucho tiempo antes de que volvieran a irse a dormir, así que no alcancé a hacer ningún ejercicio con ellos ese día y fui a ver la manada.

• Hacía demasiado calor y los caballos estaban lejos dentro del campo. Vi que me vieron entrar y comenzaron a venir, pero me detuve a saludar a los caballos vecinos, que eran muy lindos y estaban cerca de la cerca. Aproveché de practicar con ellos el “hola” y el pedir que retrocedieran. Algunos entendieron y, cuando retrocedían, yo también me alejaba para decirles: “He visto tu respuesta y dejo de pedir”. Luego llegó la manada y fui a verlos. Me conecté bastante con Mary, que incluso parecía que me abrazaba y retribuía el cariño. Ella estaba muy apegada también a Amir y hubo un momento en que parecía que me cuidaba para que Amir no fuera impertinente conmigo. Al final decidí hacer con ellos el ejercicio de “Introducir el Bastón de Rama”. Flash me miró curioso para ver qué hacía mientras caminaba con el bastón, así que esperé a que todos se relajaran. Luego empecé a pedir que se movieran y todos se movieron cuando me acerqué con el bastón, excepto Frea. Después practiqué también el “hola” con todos y, excepto Frea, todos aceptaron mi invitación. Me conecté con todos, excepto con Frea, que estaba rara, nunca la había visto así, tanto que hubo un momento en que interactuamos y sentí que giró la cola como para golpearme con una patada, pero salí rápido de ahí. Todas las veces que intenté interactuar con ella, no quiso, y las veces que se acercó fue para testearme. Luego se acostó en el piso cerca mío y durmió roncando. Flash también se acostó y se relajó completamente. Los otros quedaron de pie en posición de dormir también, y Amir vino a mirar, lo que despertó a Flash, que se levantó. Flash estaba muy atento a mí y, después del ejercicio con el bastón, parece que quería conectarse más conmigo e incluso quiso seguirme. Intenté practicar también el punto de conexión y a algunos les pedí que me miraran con los dos ojos, y lo hicieron. Fue un día de mucha interacción y compañía; no nos movimos de ese lugar. Hubo otra situación en la que estaba interactuando con un caballo en la cerca y Flash vino y lo mordió. Me dio pena, porque el caballo lo sintió. No me gustó y debo haber puesto una cara de “eso no era necesario” a Flash, que vino hacia mí con la cabeza baja. Le hice cariño, le agradecí por cuidarme, pero también le dije al otro caballo que lo sentía y lo llamé de nuevo después para conectarnos. Flash solo se quedó mirando.
