GOAL

• Mainly practice the code of conduct and how to identify the entry point to connect and invite participation.

• Practicar el código de conducta y cómo identificar el punto de entrada para conectar e invitar a participar.

LESSON

• I recognize that my requests may have been mistimed, unclear, or too advanced, which is very useful for adjusting my approach next time. Waiting for clear signals of acceptance is key, and asking for something too soon or out of context can cause confusion.

APRENDIZAJE

• Reconozco que mis pedidos podrían haber sido fuera de tiempo, poco claros o demasiado avanzados, lo cual es muy útil para ajustar mi enfoque la próxima vez. Esperar señales claras de aceptación es clave, y pedir algo demasiado pronto o fuera de contexto puede causar confusión.

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• That day I started with the mothers and their daughters inside. It was interesting, but there were some challenging moments. First, Alma tested me; it was uncomfortable, but later I thanked her for showing me how I am and for teaching me how she wants to be led. Then, Wakan tried to bite me, but I didn’t let her; my way of avoiding it was by dodging her, since she didn’t move away when I asked her to leave. There was a moment when she was quite persistent, and when I left, she almost tried to follow me to continue attempting to bite me, but she didn’t. So that day I didn’t approach her any further. Vida was very interested in me, and sometimes I gave her affection when she approached; at the beginning, I also petted Wakan. The connection with Vida was more special, and I gave her more affection today than before, she is a bit older now. Also, when I approached Inca and Alma, I looked closely at their eyes and noticed that, even though they weren’t moving, at first their gazes weren’t calm, so I would step back and change direction. With them, I mainly practiced the code of conduct and looked for the entry point, although I haven’t managed to find it yet. I didn’t feel very comfortable because of the biting attempts, and it could also be that my requests were mistimed, unclear, or perhaps too advanced. At the beginning, I felt a little emotionally insecure and had an internal discomfort that was hard to explain.

• Later, I spent time with the herd and felt a strong connection, companionship, and a sense of community. When I arrived, everyone was sleeping except Amir, who was eating near them; I didn’t approach, but instead walked around the area and stayed nearby but at a distance. When they woke up, they came toward me. Flash was the first to wake and seemed to be leading the group, moving them all. They came near the area where I was, but not directly toward me. Flash almost approached, but didn’t. Then I went out and greeted everyone, without getting too close; my message that day was: “I want to be near, but I don’t want you to come too close, I’m not comfortable.” I asked them to maintain distance; the only ones I allowed to come closer were Luna and Flash. With Luna, I practiced the entry point and I think it worked: I asked her to look at me, and she did, and I gave her a little affection. Flash didn’t seek closeness, though he came toward me a couple of times, and I managed to connect with him. With the others, we walked together for a while; when they went to a place I didn’t want to go, I called them, and Frea followed me, walking in parallel until she veered off. Later, everyone came toward me, and Amir came quite close, but I asked him not to come any closer; he understood and jumped to the other side of the water. Everything went well, and then I spent a little more time with the mothers and daughters. Alma was kinder the second time, and I connected a bit more with her and with Vida, while Inca and Wakan were sleeping.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Ese día empecé con las mamás y sus hijas adentro. Fue interesante, pero hubo algunos momentos desafiantes. Primero, Alma me puso a prueba; fue incómodo, pero luego le agradecí por mostrarme cómo estoy y por enseñarme cómo quiere ser liderada. Después, Wakan intentó morderme, pero no la dejé; mi forma de evitarlo fue esquivándome, ya que ella  no se alejó cuando le pedí que saliera. Hubo un momento en que ella fue bastante insistente, y cuando salí, casi quiso seguirme para continuar intentando morderme, pero no lo hizo. Así que ese día no me acerqué más a ella. Vida estuvo bastante interesada en mí y algunas veces le hice cariño cuando se acercó; al principio también a Wakan. La conexión con Vida fue más especial, y le hice más cariño hoy que antes, ella ya que está más grandecita. También, cuando me acerqué a Inca y Alma, observé mucho sus ojos y noté que, aunque no se movían, al principio sus miradas no estaban tranquilas, así que me retiraba y cambiaba de dirección. Con ellas practiqué principalmente el código de conducta y busqué el punto de entrada, aunque aún no lo logré encontrar. No me sentía muy cómoda por las tentativas de mordida y también puede que mis pedidos fueran fuera de tiempo, poco claros o demasiado avanzados. Al principio, me sentía un poco insegura emocionalmente y con una incomodidad interna difícil de explicar.

• Después estuve con la manada y sentí bastante conexión, compañerismo y convivencia. Llegué y todos estaban durmiendo, excepto Amir, que comía cerca de ellos; no me acerqué, sino que rodeé el área y quedé cerca pero a la distancia. Cuando se despertaron, vinieron hacia mí. Flash fue el primero a despertar y parecía liderar al grupo, moviéndolos a todos. Se acercaron a la zona donde estaba, pero sin venir directamente hacia mí. Flash casi quiso acercarse, pero no lo hizo. Luego salí y saludé a todos, sin acercarme demasiado; mi mensaje ese día era: “quiero estar cerca, pero no quiero que se acerquen mucho, no me siento cómoda”. Pedí que mantuvieran la distancia; los únicos que permití acercarse fueron Luna y Flash. Con Luna practiqué el punto de entrada y creo que funcionó: le pedí que me mirara y lo hizo, y le hice un poco de cariño. Flash no buscó acercarse, aunque vino un par de veces y logré conectarme con él. Con los demás, caminamos juntos un momento; cuando fueron a un lugar al que no quería ir, los llamé y Frea me siguió, caminando en paralelo hasta que se desvió. Más tarde, todos vinieron hacia mí, y Amir se acercó bastante, pero le pedí que no se acercara más; lo entendió y saltó al otro lado del agua. Todo salió bien, y luego pasé un tiempo más con las mamás y hijas. Alma estuvo más amable la segunda vez, y me conecté un poco más con ella y con Vida, mientras Inca y Wakan dormían.
