EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• That day, when I arrived, Frea was with some volunteers in the round pen. I first spent some time with the mothers and their foals, who were in the smaller pen where there are some large tree logs. I went in and sat on one of the logs after greeting Inca, who was closer. Inca was more responsive that day, perhaps because she had seen me ask the neighbor’s dogs to leave, as they were bothering the geese. She then stayed close to me and, to my surprise, at one point she lay down on the ground as if to groom herself, but this time she remained lying down for a longer while, very close to me. That made me feel happy about the trust. Then the two foals came over to her and played with her while she was lying down, so she stood up after a while. Vida also came to greet me calmly. After that, I left them and went to the herd.

• Flash looked at me attentively when I arrived. I went straight toward him and, as I was entering, the herd ran in my direction and I spontaneously lifted the reed and took a firm stance, and they stopped calmly. Then I spent some time with Flash; we connected, he was open, and I took the opportunity to give him affection. Then he went to the fence, from where he could see Frea in the distance. He whinnied for her. I went to greet the others, who were in resting positions, spaced apart from each other. I spent some time with Mary; she allowed me to approach and I stood beside her while she was resting. Then I did the same with Luna, who I still observe as having her ears more back than relaxed, but she also allowed me to approach and I only touched her once with my hand. I did not go to greet Amir, who was in a more distant place, and after spending some more time with Flash, I left.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Ese día, cuando llegué, Frea estaba con unos voluntarios en el corral redondo. Primero estuve un rato con las madres y sus crías, que estaban en el corral más pequeño donde hay unos troncos grandes de árboles. Entré y me senté en uno de los troncos, después de saludar a Inca, que estaba más cerca. Inca estaba más receptiva ese día, tal vez porque me había visto pedirle a los perros del vecino que se fueran, ya que estaban molestando a los gansos. Luego, ella se quedó cerca de mí y, para mi sorpresa, en un momento se acostó en el suelo como para acicalarse, pero esta vez permaneció un rato más largo acostada, muy cerca de mí. Eso me dejó contenta por la confianza. Después, las dos crías vinieron hacia ella y se quedaron jugando con ella mientras estaba acostada, así que se levantó después de un rato. Vida también vino a saludarme de forma tranquila. Después los dejé y me fui con la manada.

• Flash me miró atentamente al llegar.
