EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• That day the horses were in the same configuration as the previous week. Flash turned his ears toward me when I arrived, so I went to greet him, but he didn’t really want to connect with me. Then I thought he was more on guard of the group than paying attention to me. So I decided to go greet the mares and their foals first. They were calmly eating and barely moved when I went up to them; only Inca took a few steps. No one wanted to greet me, except Wakan. It was a quick greeting. I spent a few minutes there with them and then returned to the herd.

• When I was leaving the mares’ enclosure, Frea was near the entrance and made a galloping movement followed by a trot toward the group, as if she wanted to prevent me from entering. But I didn’t pay attention to her; I kept walking forward and didn’t go in her direction. Then she calmed down. I don’t know if she recognized me or if it was something else, but I stayed calm. I wanted to go greet Luna. I saw that Luna was going inside to drink water and I took the opportunity to go as well, and I sat on a log near where she was drinking. When she passed by me, I waited to see if she would come. She stopped and hesitated for a moment, looked toward the herd that was outside, then toward me, and chose to join the herd. So I also went to join them. I found a spot in the sun, and we all stayed there. Curiously, the herd started gathering around me. I greeted one or two of them. Then Flash came over and I petted him. Then Frea passed by me, keeping her body close, and I gave her some attention until she turned her hindquarters toward me, but again without it feeling like a threat. After that I also petted Luna, even giving her a massage to help her relax a bit; I’ve been seeing her with her ears back quite a lot these past few days. She seemed to enjoy the massage. Then I also petted Mary. And finally Amir came over briefly to say hello.

• There was a moment when the geese were confronting Flash, who was threatening them with a kick in the air. So I went over to them and moved them away a couple of times.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Ese día los caballos estaban en la misma configuración que la semana anterior. Flash puso sus orejas hacia mí cuando llegué, así que fui a saludarlo, pero no quiso conectar mucho conmigo. Luego pensé que estaba más pendiente de cuidar al grupo que de ponerme atención. Entonces decidí ir primero a saludar a las mamás y sus crías. Ellas estaban tranquilas comiendo y casi no se movieron cuando me acerqué; solo Inca dio algunos pasos. Nadie quiso saludarme, excepto Wakan. Fue un saludo rápido. Estuve algunos minutos allá con ellas y luego volví con la manada.

• Cuando salía del corral de las mamás, Frea estaba cerca de la entrada e hizo un movimiento de galope seguido de ponerse a trotar hacia el grupo, como si quisiera impedirme entrar. Pero yo no le hice caso; seguí caminando hacia adelante y no fui en su dirección. Entonces ella se calmó. No sé si me reconoció o si fue otra cosa, pero yo mantuve la calma. Quise ir donde Luna a saludarla. Vi que Luna iba hacia adentro a tomar agua y aproveché de ir también, y me senté en un tronco cerca de donde estaba tomando agua. Cuando ella pasó junto a mí, esperé para ver si venía. Ella se detuvo y dudó por un momento; miró hacia la manada que estaba afuera, luego hacia mí, y optó por unirse a la manada. Así que yo también fui a unirme con ellos. Busqué un lugar al sol y nos quedamos todos ahí. Curiosamente, la manada empezó a aglomerarse cerca de mí. Yo saludé a uno u otro. Luego Flash se acercó e hice cariño en él. Después Frea pasó junto a mí, dejando su cuerpo cerca, y le hice algo de cariño hasta que puso su poto hacia mí, pero nuevamente sin sentirse como una amenaza. Después hice un poco de cariño en Luna, incluso un masaje, para que se relajara un poco, porque la veo mucho con las orejas hacia atrás estos últimos días. Ella pareció disfrutar el masaje. Luego también hice un poco de cariño en Mary. Y por último, Amir pasó un rato breve a saludar.

• Hubo un momento en que los gansos estuvieron enfrentándose con Flash, quien los amenazaba con una patada al aire. Entonces fui hacia ellos y los moví un par de veces.
