GOAL

• Reconnect after a two-week break. Review moving them with the reed; if they respond, continue with introducing the empty bucket.

OBJETIVO

• Reconectar después de un descanso de dos semanas. Repasar el ejercício de moverlos con el bastón; si responden, continuar con la introducción del canasto vacío.

LESSON

• I am aware that I haven’t worked enough on building a bond with the mothers and their foals to be part of their “circle of trust”; that is, I haven’t shared much territory with them. There also isn’t a clear respect for my space, probably for the same reason, and perhaps due to a lack of clarity in my body language.

• Inca was not being “aggressive” without reason, but rather clear. Her reaction showed that I tried to interact beyond the level of connection that was available. I need to invest more time in presence and bonding before asking for that kind of response.

APRENDIZAJE

• Tengo conciencia de que no he trabajado lo suficiente en el vínculo con las mamás y sus crías como para ser parte del “círculo de confianza”; es decir, no he compartido mucho territorio con ellas. Tampoco hay un respeto claro por mi espacio, probablemente por lo mismo y quizás por falta de mayor claridad en mi lenguaje corporal.

• Inca no estaba siendo “agresiva” sin motivo, sino clara. Su reacción mostró que intenté interactuar más allá del nivel de conexión disponible. Necesito invertir más tiempo en presencia y vínculo antes de pedir ese tipo de respuestas.

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• I started that day with the mothers and their foals. When I arrived, Wakan was lying on the ground, asleep, and the others were eating nearby. As I approached slowly, Inca moved toward Wakan as if to protect her, and in the end she woke up. Alma came toward me with an inquisitive look, so I asked her to slow down and she responded. Then I greeted her, and also Vida. When I went back to my chair, they followed me, curious about it, so I spent a while trying to move them away. Alma more or less accepted my request to leave, but Vida and especially Wakan insisted. Wakan was quite pushy and even a bit defiant, so I had to move the chair several times. Finally, she gave up and left, but my requests for them to move didn’t seem to be clear enough. I sat with them for a while. Later, I went to greet Inca and she responded. But when I tried to practice moving her, on two occasions she turned and pointed her hindquarters toward me, as if she wanted to kick me, so I had to leave for safety. In the end, she moved the group away from me, and I didn’t follow them.

• Once with the herd, when I entered, the horses saw me but did not move from where they were. The day was pleasant, the grass was greener, and there was water in the upper pond where they were grazing. I left my things and approached each one to greet them, but some (Frea and Luna) simply did not respond. Since it was nice where they were, I went to get my chair to sit with them there, but when I returned, they had already moved farther ahead, except for Flash. So I stayed for a while with Flash and then moved my chair to where the others were. Some tried to approach—Amir, along with Flash and Frea—but I asked them not to come, and they accepted. Then Frea and Flash grazed near my chair, while the others moved farther out into the field. I felt they recognized me, but they seemed somewhat disconnected. Luna did not want to greet me at any point. After a while, I tried to move them: Mary, Flash, and Luna responded, but Amir and Frea ignored me, so I chose not to practice the empty bucket that day. There was a moment when we returned to the upper pond and settled into harmony while they enjoyed the water and the green grass.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Empecé ese día con las mamás y sus crías. Cuando llegué, Wakan estaba tirada en el piso, dormida, y las otras comían cerca. Al aproximarme lentamente, Inca se movió hacia Wakan como para protegerla, y al final ella despertó. Alma vino en mi dirección con una apariencia inquisitiva, así que le pedí que disminuyera la velocidad y ella respondió. Luego la saludé, y también a Vida. Cuando volví a mi silla, ellas vinieron siguiéndome, curiosas con la silla, así que estuve un rato intentando moverlas. Alma como que aceptó mi pedido de irse, pero Vida y, principalmente, Wakan insistieron. Wakan estaba bastante impertinente y hasta desafiante, así que tuve que mover la silla unas cuantas veces. Por fin ella desistió y se fue, pero mis pedidos de moverse pareciera que no fueron suficientemente claros. Me senté un rato con ellas. Más tarde fui a saludar a Inca y ella respondió. Pero cuando quise practicar moverla, en dos ocasiones giró y apuntó su trasero hacia mí, como si quisiera darme una patada, de modo que tuve que salir por seguridad. Al final, ella movió al grupo lejos de mí y no las seguí.

• Ya con la manada, cuando entré, los caballos me vieron, pero no se movieron de su lugar. El día estaba agradable, el pasto ya estaba más verde y había agua en el pozo de arriba, donde estaban pastando. Dejé mis cosas y me acerqué a cada uno para saludar, pero algunos (Frea y Luna) simplemente no respondieron. Como estaba agradable donde estaban, fui a buscar mi silla para sentarme con ellos allí, pero cuando volví, ya se habían movido más adelante, excepto Flash. Entonces me quedé un rato con Flash y después moví mi silla hacia donde estaban los demás. Algunos intentaron acercarse —Amir, junto con Flash y Frea—, pero les pedí que no vinieran y lo aceptaron. Luego, Frea y Flash estuvieron pastando cerca de mi silla, mientras los otros se adentraron en el campo, un poco más lejos. Percibí que me reconocieron, pero estaban algo desconectados. Luna en ningún momento quiso saludar. Después de un rato, quise probar moverlos: Mary, Flash y Luna aceptaron, pero Amir y Frea no me hicieron caso, así que no quise practicar el canasto vacío ese día. Hubo un momento en que volvimos al pozo de arriba y quedamos en armonía, mientras ellos disfrutaban del agua y del pasto verde.
