GOAL

• Keep practicing introducing the empty bucket,  the "Hello" ritual and if they approach on their own, practice the entry point of connection.

OBJETIVO

• Seguir practicando introducir el canasto vacío, el ritual del "Hola" y si se acercan por sí mismos, practicar el punto de entrada de la conexión.

LESSON

• When they went to the other pasture on their own, my first reaction was to bring them back. I first tried with the reed, and then by making noise with an empty container. But then I realized that where they were there was green grass, and in the place I wanted to move them there wasn’t much to eat. So I decided to prepare the field with food first before moving them back. That also gave them time to eat some of the green grass. When I returned to move them, Mary responded immediately, and then everyone followed her. That experience reminded me to look at their needs first, and not just my own.

APRENDIZAJE

• Cuando ellos se fueron al otro pasto por su cuenta, mi primera reacción fue traerlos de regreso. Primero intenté con el bastón, y luego haciendo ruido con una vasija vacía. Pero luego entendí que donde estaban había pasto verde, y allá donde los quería mover no había mucho que comer. Entonces decidí preparar primero el campo con comida antes de moverlos de regreso. Eso también les dio tiempo de comer algo del pasto verde. Cuando volví para moverlos, Mary respondió de inmediato, y luego todos la siguieron. Con esa experiencia, recordé mirar primero sus necesidades y no solo las mías. 

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• I decided to start with the mothers and their foals that day, since they were in the inner pasture and awake. I wanted to deepen my connection with them, but only Alma and Vida were present. Inca and Wakan stayed together in a corner the whole time. I felt a stronger connection with Alma. First I sat on the ground for a while; Alma came to greet me respectfully. Then Vida came, but I asked her to stop and she didn’t come any closer. They were calm. Then I wanted to start the empty bucket exercise with them. We had some movement there, but they responded well to my requests to move away from the bucket. After a while it seemed like they got tired and walked toward the round pen. I went there as well and found a piece of log to sit on. While I was rolling the log with my foot to move it into the shade, Alma came behind me and I felt as if she wanted to play. I asked her if she also wanted to move the log, but she just stood there watching and didn’t do anything. I sat down there; she stayed for a while and then left. I stood up to greet Inca and Wakan, and they responded shyly.

• Then I went to spend time with the herd, which was inside that day. They were spread out across the field. When Frea saw me, she made the sound I like, “rerere.” I’m not sure if it was for me or for the bucket I was holding in my hand. Mary, Flash, and Amir were under a tree in the shade, and Luna was on the other side, very far away. I greeted Frea and then Luna. Amir then came over and I greeted him too, and then Flash. I spent some time walking around, connecting with one and then another, and just as I was about to connect with Luna in a very nice moment, Mary opened the gate that led to the other paddock and they all ran there.

That also gave them time to eat some of the green grass. When I returned to move them, Mary responded immediately, and then everyone followed her.

• I watched them eating to observe their dynamics. I had placed about four small piles of food relatively close to each other. I saw that Flash moved Mary and Amir away, but then they were able to come back and eat as well. They were all eating together and from time to time one would move another. It looked very similar to when I move them away from the bucket, so I decided to place my bucket nearby as well. Some of them tried to approach the bucket and I moved them away. They still seemed not to understand my game, but they responded. I was able to try it with Frea, Luna, and Mary; the others didn’t come. Then I removed the bucket and sat on a tall log that is in the middle of the pasture, and I lay there watching them. They were doing well, eating calmly. After a while I left before they finished eating everything.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Decidí empezar con las mamás y sus crías ese día, ya que estaban en el pasto de adentro y despiertas. Quise profundizar la conexión con ellas, pero solo estuvieron presentes Alma y Vida. Inca y Wakan estuvieron juntas en un rincón todo el rato. Tuve más conexión con Alma. Primero estuve un rato sentada en el suelo; Alma vino a saludar con respeto. Luego vino Vida, pero le pedí que se detuviera y no se acercó mucho más. Estaban tranquilas. Luego quise empezar el ejercicio del canasto vacío con ellas y tuvimos algunos movimientos, pero respondieron bien a mis pedidos de alejarse del canasto. Después pareció que se cansaron y se fueron hacia el corral redondo. Esa vez yo también fui para allá y encontré un pedazo de tronco para sentarme. Mientras rodaba el tronco con mi pie para llevarlo a la sombra, Alma vino detrás de mí y sentí como si quisiera jugar. Le pregunté si quería también mover el tronco, pero solo se quedó mirando y no hizo nada. Ahí me senté; ella se quedó un rato y después se fue. Me paré a saludar a Inca y Wakan, y ellas respondieron tímidamente.

• Luego fui a estar con la manada que ese día estaba adentro. Ellos estaban distribuidos por el campo. Cuando Frea me vio, hizo el sonido que me gusta, “rerere”. No sé si fue por mí o por el canasto que tenía en la mano. Mary, Flash y Amir estaban bajo un árbol en la sombra, y Luna estaba del otro lado, súper lejos. Saludé a Frea y luego a Luna. Después vino Amir y lo saludé también, y luego a Flash. Estuve circulando un rato, conectándome con uno y con otro, y cuando estaba por conectarme con Luna, en una linda conexión, Mary abrió el portón que daba al otro corral y todos salieron corriendo para allá.

Vi que Flash movió a Mary y a Amir, pero luego ellos pudieron entrar y comer también. Todos comían juntos y, de vez en cuando, uno movía a otro. Era muy parecido a cuando los muevo del canasto, así que decidí poner mi canasto también cerca. Algunos intentaron acercarse al canasto y yo los movía. Ellos parecían seguir sin entender mi juego, pero respondían. Alcancé a probar con Frea, Luna y Mary; los demás no vinieron. Luego retiré el canasto y me senté en un tronco alto que hay en medio del pasto, y me acosté ahí a mirarlos. Estaban bien, comiendo tranquilos. Después de un rato, me fui antes de que terminaran de comerlo todo.
