GOAL

• Keep practicing introducing the empty bucket,  the "Hello" ritual and if they approach on their own, practice the entry point of connection.

OBJETIVO

• Seguir practicando introducir el canasto vacío, el ritual del "Hola" y si se acercan por sí mismos, practicar el punto de entrada de la conexión.

LESSON

• It seems that Frea is starting to accept my leadership: she was calm, didn’t question my presence, and moved when I asked her to.

APRENDIZAJE

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• I arrived and Mary was sleeping alone in the sun, near the fence, while the other horses were calmly grazing. The neighboring horses weren’t there that day. She saw me, and when I started to approach and noticed she was sleeping, judging by the position of her hind leg, I turned around and didn’t go closer. She didn’t move, completely relaxed.

• She went to greet the other horses one by one, and only Flash didn’t respond; he was among branches with difficult access. I stayed with them, writing in my journaling while they grazed calmly. Later, when Mary woke up, I went to greet her.

• I loved seeing Frea calmer, and it seems that our previous encounter made a difference. She no longer seems to question either my presence or my leadership. The horses were relaxed and didn’t want to come close to me much, but they were present with me.

• Then I wanted to do the empty bucket exercise, and as soon as I placed it on the ground, they came more quickly, wanting to approach it. But I moved them when they tried to come closer. Flash and Frea were the ones who tried first, and the others, seeing me move them, didn’t attempt to approach. At one point, Amir hesitated about whether to go or not, but in the end, he chose not to. And that was all.

• Later, the horses moved to the back of the pasture to drink water, and I went with them and with the basket. But they were no longer interested in it or in me. I spent a little time with Mary, who was drinking from the channel, and when I went to wet my hands and face in the channel as well, she got startled and moved away. I’m not sure what she was thinking—whether she was scared or if it had to do with herd hierarchy. I stayed a little longer with them and then left.

• I then spent some time with the mares and their foals, but they were inside the round pen and didn’t want to come out. So I tried working with them by moving them away from the fence, but they didn’t seem to understand. Inca was more attentive and interested in me that day, but she also didn’t respond to my requests to move. So I left them and finished for the day.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Llegué y Mary estaba durmiendo sola al sol, cerca de la cerca, mientras los otros caballos pastaban tranquilos. Los caballos vecinos no estaban ese día. Ella me vio, y cuando empecé a acercarme y vi que estaba durmiendo, por la posición de su pata trasera, di la vuelta y no me acerqué. Ella no se movió, confiada plenamente. Fue a saludar a los otros caballos uno a uno, y solo Flash no respondió; estaba entre ramas con acceso difícil. Estuve con ellos escribiendo en mi cuaderno mientras pastaban tranquilos. Más tarde, cuando Mary despertó, fui a saludarla.

• Me encantó ver a Frea más tranquila, y parece que nuestro encuentro anterior marcó la diferencia. Ella ya no parece cuestionar ni mi presencia ni mi liderazgo. Los caballos estaban tranquilos y no quisieron acercarse mucho a mí, pero estaban presentes conmigo.

• Luego quise hacer el ejercicio del canasto vacío y, apenas lo puse en el suelo, vinieron más rápidamente a querer acercarse a él. Pero yo los desplacé cuando intentaron venir. Flash y Frea fueron los que intentaron acercarse primero; los otros, al verme desplazarlos, no lo intentaron. En un momento, Amir dudó si ir o no, pero al final eligió no hacerlo. Y eso fue todo. Más tarde, los caballos se movieron al fondo del pasto para beber agua y yo fui con ellos y con el canasto. Pero ya no mostraban interés ni en él ni en mí. Estuve un ratito con Mary, que bebía agua del canal, y cuando yo también fui a mojarme las manos y la cara en el canal, ella se asustó y se alejó. No sé qué habrá pensado: si se asustó o si fue algo relacionado con la jerarquía de la manada. Me quedé un rato más con ellos y luego me fui.

• Pasé a quedarme un poco con las mamás y sus hijas, pero estaban adentro del corral redondo y no querían salir. Entonces intenté trabajar con ellas moviéndolas desde la cerca, pero parecía que no lo entendían. Inca estaba más atenta e interesada en mí ese día, pero tampoco respondió a mis pedidos de moverse. Así que las dejé y me fui.
