GOAL

• Keep practicing introducing the empty bucket,  the "Hello" ritual and if they approach on their own, practice the entry point of connection.

OBJETIVO

• Seguir practicando introducir el canasto vacío, el ritual del "Hola" y si se acercan por sí mismos, practicar el punto de entrada de la conexión.

LESSON

• It was interesting to observe that, the moment I sat down in my chair, they calmed down and began to eat peacefully.

• Frea and Flash responded to my call and came closer to the fence where I was, something that hadn’t happened before.

• Being outside with another group, I felt that this caused them some confusion (“question mark expression”). They didn’t stop considering me part of the group; they just needed to reorganize their perception and confirm that I was still consistent and available to them. When they responded to my call, they showed trust and recognition of my role.

• The most important work of the day was the exercise with Frea at the fence, where we had great interaction and connection; she finally seems to have understood what I wanted.

APRENDIZAJE

• Fue interesante observar que, en el momento en que me senté en mi silla, se calmaron y comenzaron a comer tranquilos.

• Frea y Flash atendieron mi llamado y se acercaron a la cerca donde yo estaba, algo que antes no sucedía.

• Al estar afuera con otro grupo, sentí que eso generó en ellos cierta confusión (“cara de signo de pregunta”). No dejaron de considerarme parte del grupo; solo tuvieron que reorganizar su percepción y confirmar que yo seguía siendo coherente y disponible para ellos. Cuando respondieron a mi llamado, mostraron confianza y reconocimiento de mi rol.

• El trabajo más importante del día fue el ejercicio con Frea en la cerca, donde tuvimos gran interacción y conexión; finalmente, ella parece haber entendido lo que yo quería.

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• I arrived and the horses were in another paddock, because they had escaped onto the highway and were put inside there. When Frea saw me with a bucket in my hands and my belongings, she made that sound I like, “rerere” out of happiness. I don’t know if she thought I was bringing something for them, but I don’t think it was because of seeing me. She had never done that before in my presence. I went in to greet them; they were a bit agitated, a little nervous perhaps, as if adapting to the new place. I spent some time with Flash, who seemed to be crying (he had a tear running down from his eye) and was asking me for affection, and I gave it to him. But afterward I felt a bit overwhelmed inside: the space was small and, mainly, Frea’s unreceptive reaction worried me a little; also, Amir was not very responsive when I asked him to move away. So I preferred to stay on the outside.

• Later I went in to greet Mary and gave her some affection as well, and then Luna, who was kicking that day, even at the horses of the herd; she also chased away Alma, who wanted to come say hello at the fence. What happened was that, after I arrived, they also brought the mothers and daughters to the pen next door, where I was. I put my chair there. That also seemed to confuse them, because they no longer seemed to consider Alma, Inca, Vida, and Wakan as part of the herd. And the fact that I was outside, on the side of them, seemed to confuse them even more, because I was connecting with both groups. There was a moment when I moved Vida and Wakan away from the fence where Frea was, since I was working with her, and they complied with my request. Yes, I took advantage of that moment to work with Frea, asking her to move away from the fence. It was very difficult to achieve, but she finally understood when Flash moved, and then it seems she understood as well. I was practicing moving her and calling her to come closer, and when she did, I gave her affection. I also gave her some comfort, because she was neighing, as if calling the horses that stayed in the other pasture, the neighbors. On a couple of occasions, during the exercise, I lightly tapped her with the reed; I apologized a lot and she understood. It was interesting to be able to make progress with her in that exercise, and that became the most important work of that day. I didn’t dare to put the empty bucket in that smaller space, with the whole herd and with them still adapting to the place. It was interesting to observe that, at the moment when I sat in my chair, they calmed down and began to eat peacefully. On the outside, Inca didn’t want to greet me, but the others did.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Llegué y los caballos estaban en otro corral, pues habían escapado a la autopista y los pusieron adentro. Cuando Frea me vio con una vasija en las manos y mis cosas, hizo ese sonido que me gusta, “rerere”, de felicidad. No sé si pensó que les traía algo a ellos, pero no creo que fuera por verme a mí. Nunca lo había hecho antes en mi presencia. Entré a saludarlos; estaban un poco agitados, un poco asustados tal vez, como adaptándose al nuevo lugar. Estuve un rato con Flash, que parecía estar llorando (tenía una lágrima que le escurría de los ojos)  y me pedía cariño, y se lo di. Pero después me sentí un poco agobiada ahí dentro: el espacio era pequeño y, principalmente, la reacción poco receptiva de Frea me preocupó un poco; además, Amir también estaba poco responsivo cuando le pedi que se alejara. Así que preferí quedarme del lado de afuera.

• Más tarde entré a saludar a Mary y le hice un poco de cariño también, y después a Luna, que andaba dando patadas ese día, incluso a los caballos de la manada; también expulsó a Alma, que quiso venir a saludar en la cerca. Lo que pasó fue que, luego de que llegué, trajeron también a las madres y las hijas al corral de al lado, donde yo estaba. Puse mi silla ahí. Eso también pareció confundirlos, pues ellos ya no parecían considerar a Alma, Inca, Vida y Wakan como parte de la manada. Y el hecho de que yo estuviera afuera, del lado de ellas, parecía haberlos confundido aún más, porque yo me conectaba con los dos grupos. Hubo un momento en que moví a Vida y Wakan de la reja donde estaba Frea, pues yo estaba trabajando con ella, y ellos acataron mi pedido. Sí, aproveché para trabajar con Frea, pedirle que se moviera de la cerca. Fue muy difícil lograrlo, pero finalmente lo entendió cuando Flash se movió, y ahí parece que ella también lo comprendió. Yo estaba practicando moverla y llamarla para que se acercara, y cuando lo hacía le daba cariño. También le di un poco de consuelo, pues estaba como relinchando, como llamando a los caballos que quedaron en el otro pasto, los vecinos. En un par de ocasiones, durante el ejercicio, le pegué levemente con el bastón; me disculpé mucho y ella lo entendió. Fue interesante poder avanzar con ella en ese ejercicio, y eso se convirtió en el trabajo más importante de ese día. No me atreví a poner el canasto vacío en ese espacio más pequeño, con toda la manada y además ellos aún adaptándose al lugar. Fue interesante observar que, en el momento en que me senté en mi silla, se calmaron y comenzaron a comer tranquilos. Del lado de afuera, Inca no quiso saludarme, pero los otros sí.
