GOAL

LESSON

• Luna, who rarely interacts, approached that day and we had an interesting moment of connection that lasted quite a while. I took advantage of that moment to practice with her the entry point of connection, which I want to come out more and more naturally, without thinking about it. I realized that it feels more natural for me to ask what they want to do than on what I want to do with them or what I want them to do for me.

• The connection with Flash and Luna has deepened in recent sessions, and they are the two horses who have responded clearly and consistently to my request to move with the reed.

• Frea is choosing to approach rather than flee, which demonstrates curiosity and potential for connection. There is no aggression or full escape, indicating that there is a safe space to train and communicate my cues. Her reactive and sensitive personality suggests that, with patience, she can become very receptive to free and mindful interaction.

APRENDIZAJE

• Luna, que pocas veces interactúa, ese día se acercó y tuvimos un interesante momento de conexión que duró un buen rato. Ahí aproveché para practicar con ella el punto de entrada para la conexión, que cada vez quiero que me salga de forma más natural, sin pensarlo. Me di cuenta de que me resulta más natural preguntarles qué quieren hacer que lo que yo quiero hacer con ellos o que hagan por mí.

• La conexión con Flash y Luna se ha profundizado en los últimos encuentros, y ellos son los dos caballos que han respondido de manera clara y consistente a mi pedido de moverse con el bastón.

• Frea está eligiendo acercarse en lugar de huir, lo que demuestra curiosidad y potencial de conexión. No hay agresión ni escape total, indicando que existe un espacio seguro para entrenar y comunicarle mis señales. Su personalidad reactiva y sensible sugiere que, con paciencia, puede volverse muy receptiva a la interacción libre y consciente.

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• It was very hot when I arrived, and the horses were all gathered together, sleeping, even with the neighboring horses. So I observed them and saw how Amir repositioned himself behind Mary. The others did not move. So I decided to go and be with the mothers and daughters inside, until they woke up.

• They were all awake. I did not share much territory with them and the interactions already began. Alma, Wakan, and Vida came in my direction, and I asked them to stop. Then we greeted each other, and later I practiced the “Hello” and moving them with the reed. Alma responded to my request and accepted greeting me. Inca seems to get annoyed when I ask her to move, and it was also hard for her to do so. When she finally did, I was left wondering whether she moved because of my request or because she was already tired of my interference. Once again, I didn’t manage to practice with Wakan, who went far away, and Vida still does not respond clearly. After a while, I left them and returned to the herd.

• When I returned, they were still half asleep, but they had already moved. I went to greet Flash first, and when I was getting close, it was as if he moved and sent a general message to the group to wake up; then they all readjusted a bit. He greeted me, and when I left, he followed me. I invited him to come, and we took a few steps together, but then he went ahead without following me. Then I went to greet the others. Luna responded attentively; Amir avoided me, and Mary did as well. I noticed that Mary had few flies in her eyes that day; she looked much better. Frea did not respond. With Frea, I feel that we still do not understand each other, and I remain cautious with her. Maybe that day she wanted to come closer to me, but I was asking her to move, until she could better understand my request.

• There was a moment when I asked her to move and she sort of stomped with her hind leg, but she did not move. It was similar to the previous time, when she came in my direction and I moved her away. Later, in another moment when I was in a nice connection with Luna, it seems that Frea did not like it: she came toward me, I don’t know whether to move me or to block my access to Luna. At that point, I think I asked her to stop, and she went to hide behind Flash, where she stayed. I continued my interaction with Luna, and then Luna began to move the herd toward the far end of the pasture. They all went there; I let them go, and I also went, but on the other side. From a distance, Mary was watching me, and I called her to come to where I was. After a while, she came closer and brought the herd with her, except for Frea, who stayed alone. I also called Frea from a distance to join the group. Then I continued practicing with the herd the “Hello” and moving them with the reed, when Frea came running in an uncontrolled way. I gave her the “stop” signal with my hand, and she slowed down a bit, but continued running toward the neighboring horses. With her run, the other horses also ran, not knowing what was happening. I stayed and wanted to go check on Frea, to see what was going on with her and if she was okay. I have found her strange these days, as if she sometimes has an emotional imbalance. I approached her, but she did not want to greet me, so I said goodbye to her and to the herd.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Hacía mucho calor cuando llegué y los caballos estaban todos aglomerados, durmiendo juntos, incluso con los caballos vecinos. Entonces los observé y vi cómo Amir se reposicionó detrás de Mary. Los otros no se movieron. Así que decidí ir a estar con las mamás y las hijas adentro, hasta que se despertaran.

• Estaban todas despiertas. No compartí mucho territorio con ellas y ya empezaron las interacciones. Alma, Wakan y Vida vinieron en mi dirección y yo pedí que pararan. Luego nos saludamos y más tarde practiqué el “Hola” y moverlas con el bastón. Alma respondió a mi pedido y aceptó saludarme. Inca parece ponerse molesta cuando le pido que se mueva y también le costó hacerlo. Cuando finalmente lo hizo, me quedé con la duda de si fue por mi pedido o porque ya estaba cansada de mi interferencia. Nuevamente no alcancé a practicar con Wakan, que se fue lejos, y Vida todavía no responde de manera clara. Después de un rato las dejé y volví con la manada.

• Cuando volví, todavía estaban medio dormidos, pero ya se habían movido. Fui a saludar primero a Flash y, cuando me estaba acercando, fue como si él se moviera y enviara un mensaje general al grupo para que despertaran; entonces todos se reacomodaron un poco. Él me saludó y, cuando me fui, me siguió. Lo invité a venir y dimos unos pasos juntos, pero luego él se fue más adelante sin seguirme. Después fui a saludar a los otros. Luna respondió atenta; Amir se esquivó, y Mary también. Noté que Mary tenía pocas moscas en los ojos ese día, se veía mucho mejor. Frea no respondió. Con Frea siento que aún no nos entendemos y sigo siendo cautelosa con ella. Tal vez ese día ella quería acercarse más a mí, pero yo le estaba pidiendo que se moviera, hasta que ella entienda mejor mi pedido. Hubo un momento en que le pedí que se moviera y ella como que pisoteó con su pata trasera, pero no se movió. Fue similar a la vez pasada, cuando vino en mi dirección y la aparté. Luego, en otro momento en que estaba en una linda conexión con Luna, parece que a Frea no le gustó: vino hacia mí, no sé si para moverme o para impedirme el acceso a Luna. Ahí creo que le pedí que parara, y ella se fue a esconder detrás de Flash, donde se quedó. Yo seguí mi interacción con Luna y luego Luna empezó a mover a la manada hacia el fondo del pasto. Se fueron todos hacia allí; los dejé ir y yo también fui, pero por el otro lado. Desde lejos, Mary me miraba y yo la llamaba para que viniera donde estaba yo. Después de un rato, ella se acercó y trajo a la manada, excepto a Frea, que se quedó sola. También llamé a Frea de lejos para que se uniera al grupo. Entonces seguía practicando con la manada el “hola” y moverlos con el bastón, cuando Frea vino corriendo de manera desenfrenada. Yo le hice la señal de “pare” con la mano y ella disminuyó un poco la velocidad, pero siguió corriendo hacia los caballos vecinos. Con su corrida, los otros caballos también corrieron, sin saber qué estaba pasando. Yo me quedé y quise ir a ver a Frea, para ver qué le pasaba y si estaba bien. La he encontrado rara estos dias, como si a veces tuviera un desequilibrio emocional. Me acerqué, pero no quiso saludarme, así que me despedí de ella y de la manada.
