GOAL

•  Try to make it more explicit to them that I acknowledge their attempts to approach, while staying more centered in myself, holding my intention and invitation, without focusing on their responses.

OBJETIVO

• Intentar mostrarles de manera más explícita que reconozco sus intentos de acercamiento, mientras me mantengo más centrada en mí, sosteniendo mi intención y mi invitación, sin estar pendiente de sus respuestas.

LESSON

• By allowing Frea to express her frustration at the gate and not forcing her, I maintained my leadership based on calmness and safety, not on force.

• The fact that they accompanied me to the lake and on other explorations indicated that they sensed my intention and trust.

APRENDIZAJE

• Al permitir que Frea expresara su frustración en el portón y no forzarla, mantuve mi liderazgo basado en calma y seguridad, no en fuerza.

• El hecho de que me acompañaran al lago y en otras exploraciones indicó que sentían mi intención y confianza.

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• I started with the horses that were inside, the mothers with their daughters. I entered the pen with them, and everyone welcomed me well. Wakan came to sniff me just before I went in, but someone called me, and she got scared and ran off; after that, she didn’t come near me again. Vida also came over; she has grown a lot and was very interested in me—I connected deeply with her. With the other horses, there was also a connection, in one way or another, stronger than the previous week.

• Then I went to be with the herd outside. I stayed standing the whole time, without sitting. The horses were very attentive to what was happening inside, especially because someone was working individually with Amir and then with Flash. I did some “hello” exercises with them, and somehow that day I was able to move them: they first accompanied me to the lake. When I decided to go to another spot, they followed me too, but they went ahead of me. Flash seemed to guide them to the end of the field, even though my intention was to stay further up. I’m not sure if Flash wanted to test his leadership or if they simply wanted to go there. The most curious moment was when they all galloped back to where I was. Amir and Frea passed very close and stopped next to me. I felt that they wanted to check who I was. Frea touched me with her tail three times; at first accidentally, but later it seemed deliberate. I didn’t react—I just held my space, and she calmed down. The others stayed close by. Then I thought, “Look at this huge field—you are free—let’s explore.” I started walking toward the far end of the pasture, and, interestingly, they accompanied me. Later, we went further into the field, and they grazed while I watched. When I called them to return, they didn’t follow me directly; instead, they came back on the other side of the field and positioned themselves at the entrance.

• At the end, while I was preparing to leave, Mary came to sniff me, and we connected for a moment; I gently placed my hand on her cheek. Frea stood at the gate and wouldn’t let me out, stamping firmly with a front hoof, as if asking me to open the way. I tried to ask her softly to step back, touching her shoulder, but she refused to move and insisted on her request. So I turned and walked out, mentally saying, “I’m sorry, I can’t take you with me. Can you please let me pass?” A few seconds later, she moved aside, and I was able to leave, thanking her with a glance, a smile, and a Namaste gesture.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Estuve primero con los caballos que estaban adentro, las mamás con sus hijas. Entré al corral con ellas y todos me recibieron bien. Wakan vino a olfatearme un momento antes de que yo entrara, pero alguien me llamó y ella se asustó y salió corriendo; después de eso no se acercó más. Vida también vino, ha crecido mucho y estaba muy interesada en mí; conecté mucho con ella. Con los otros caballos también hubo conexión, de una forma u otra, más intensa que en la semana anterior.

• Luego fui a estar con la manada afuera. Estuve de pie todo el tiempo, sin sentarme. Los caballos estaban muy pendientes de lo que pasaba adentro, sobre todo porque alguien estaba trabajando individualmente con Amir y luego con Flash. Hice algunas prácticas del “hola” con ellos y, de alguna forma, ese día logré moverlos: primero me acompañaron hasta el lago. Cuando decidí ir hacia otro lugar, ellos me siguieron también, pero iban delante mío. Flash parecía guiarlos hasta el final del campo, aunque mi intención era quedarme más arriba. No estoy segura si Flash quería probar su liderazgo o si simplemente querían ir hacia allá. Lo más curioso fue cuando regresaron todos al galope hacia donde yo estaba. Amir y Frea pasaron muy cerca, y se detuvieron a mi lado. Sentí que querían entender quién era yo. Frea me tocó  con su cola varias veces; al principio accidentalmente, pero luego pareciera que lo hizo a propósito. No reaccioné, solo cuidé mi espacio, y ella se calmó. Los demás quedaron cerca mío. Después pensé: “Miren este campo enorme, ustedes son libres, vamos a explorar”. Empecé a caminar hacia el final del pasto y, curiosamente, me acompañaron. Más tarde nos internamos más en el campo y ellos pastaron mientras yo los observaba. Cuando los llamé para volver, no me siguieron directamente, sino que regresaron por el otro lado del campo y se colocaron en la entrada.

• Al final, mientras preparaba mi salida, Mary vino a olfatearme y nos conectamos un momento; le puse la mano suavemente en la mejilla. Frea se puso en el portón y no me dejaba salir, pisando firme con una pata delantera, como pidiendo que le liberara el pasaje. Intenté pedirle suavemente que retrocediera, tocándole el hombro, pero no quiso moverse y insistió en su pedido. Entonces di la vuelta y salí, diciéndole mentalmente “Lo siento, no te puedo llevar conmigo. ¿Puedes dejarme pasar?” Unos segundos después, ella se retiró y pude salir, agradeciéndole con una mirada, una sonrisa y señal de Namaste.
