UBICACIÓN: AYUNKAWELL
LA MANADA: SOFIE (YEGUA) Y BOSTON (CASTRADO)
LÍDER (DOMINANTE): BOSTON
Letting go of the agenda and paying closer attention to the horses’ state, so that transitions between states can happen more smoothly. Only introducing exercises when there is connection and willingness on their part.
Boston made that backward movement a couple of times, the same one he had made the other day. Then I realized that perhaps that day, the movement hadn't been related to the connection we had shared, but rather to relaxation. I'm not sure.
When Boston behaved aggressively towards Sofie, the first time I intervened, I noticed that I wasn't in a neutral state, so I decided to take a step back from my attempt to intervene. The second time, instead, I focused more on understanding and listening to Boston rather than intervening directly. I felt that this approach was more loving.
No estoy segura.
When I arrived, both of them were sleeping under a tree, in the shade. I sat down quietly and stayed there with them. After a while, I noticed that Boston made that backward movement a couple of times, the same one he had made the other day. Then I realized that perhaps the other day, that movement hadn't been related to the connection we had shared, but rather to relaxation. I'm not sure.
That day, Boston and Sofie were closer to each other. I sat outside and went in from time to time to greet them.
While I was sitting outside, on a couple of occasions Boston moved away from Sofie and went to eat somewhere else. Sofie then walked across the entire field and came to drink water near where I was sitting. She didn't come towards me, although she seemed comfortable there. When Boston noticed that she had moved away, he came towards the water and pushed her away, nipping at her and making her run off in a somewhat aggressive way. This happened a couple of times.
The first time, I intervened and went into the field. I started asking Boston to move, but he looked at me with a surprised expression, without seeming to understand what I was asking him to do. I noticed that I wasn't in a neutral state, so I decided to take a step back from my attempt to intervene.
The second time, I watched Boston and thought that perhaps he needed some love. I went into the field to talk to him and ask him what was going on and whether he wanted to tell me something. But Boston seemed somewhat closed off, perhaps thinking that I was going to ask him to move, and he didn't want me to come closer or touch him. So I went back to my chair and told him that if he wanted to talk, I would be waiting for him there.
I started writing about the meaning of being in the present moment, and allowing myself to feel it as I wrote. It wasn't long before I noticed the horses coming in my direction. I noticed that Boston was listening to my voice, as I was actually speaking out loud. Sofie was following along too.
Then Boston started eating near me. I tried to play with him, but he didn't engage in the fence game. Afterwards, they settled down to sleep nearby. After a little while, I went over to him, gave him some affection, and he let me. Then I went back to my chair.
No estoy segura.
Luego volví a sentarme.
