GOAL

• Letting go of the agenda and paying closer attention to the horses’ state, so that transitions between states can happen more smoothly. Only introducing exercises when there is connection and willingness on their part.

LESSON

• Again, Boston chose to come toward me rather than toward the chair, where my things were, when I moved away from it.

• I felt that Sofie is becoming increasingly comfortable approaching me and that she seems to want to be close to me.

• There is still room for me to move quickly without conveying a sense of urgency to Boston when I stand up from the chair. I also noticed some lack of clarity about what I want to communicate once I move away, where to position myself in relation to him, and how to be more explicit and clear in my intention.

APRENDIZAJE

• Nuevamente, Boston eligió venir hacia mí y no hacia la silla, donde estaban mis cosas, cuando me aparté de ella.

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• When I arrived, I brought my chair in and sat down. It wasn’t long before Boston came in my direction. Once again, I stood up and moved away from my chair, and Boston, who was heading toward it, changed direction and came toward me instead. He gently sniffed me and then walked away. As he was leaving, I made a gesture indicating that he could go, following his movement. Then I sat down again.

• Leche, the cat, came to be with me. After a while, Sofie came from a distance toward my chair and greeted me twice while Leche was sitting on my lap. Then she also wanted to sniff my bag, but I made a hand gesture asking her to give me a little more space, and she then walked away.

• I was a little distracted because there was a lot of activity in the field that day, but mainly because I had to interrupt the session to move Michaela back to her paddock.

• Later, when I came back, Sofie came and put herself in a resting position near my chair and stayed there for a while. Boston also walked around near us, but he was calm.

• Finally, while Boston was sleeping, I called him to see if he wanted to play by the fence. At first, he didn’t come; he preferred to stay where he was. So I tossed a carrot near him, which made him come over to see what was happening. We played a little, but we still haven’t found much clarity in that game. In the end, I gave the remaining carrot to both of them, and also to Michaela, who was in her paddock, and then I left.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Cuando llegué, entré con mi silla y me senté. No pasó muho tiempo para que Boston veniera en mi dirección. Nuevamente me paré y me alejé de mi silla, y Boston, que iba en dirección a ella, hizo un desvio y vino hacia a mi. Me oleó suavemente y se fue. Mientras se iba, yo hice un movimiento de pedir que se fuera, acompañando su movimiento. Y volví a sentarme.

• Leche, la gata, vino a estar conmigo. Luego de un rato, Sofie vino de lejos hacia mi silla, saludó dos veces a mi mientras Leche estaba en mi regazo. Luego ella también quiso oler mi bolso, pero con la mano hice una señal que se alejara un poco y luego ella se fue. 

• Yo estaba un poco distraída pues había mucho movimiento en el campo ese día, pero principalmente porque tuve que interrumpir la sesión para trasladar a Michaela de vuelta a su potrero. 

• Más tarde cuando volvi, Sofie vino a ponerse en posición de dormir cerca de mi silla y estuvo ahí un rato. Boston pasó circulando cerca de nosotras también, pero estava tranquilo. 

• Por ultimo, cuando Boston estaba durmiendo, lo llamé a ver si quería jugar en la cerca. A principio no vino, prefirió quedarse ahí. Entonces lancé una zanahoria cerca de donde estaba y eso hizo con que viniera a ver qué pasaba. Y estuvimos jugando un poco, pero todavía no entramos en mucha claridad en ese juego. Al final, les di lo que quedaba de zanahoria a los dos y también a Michaela, que estaba en su potrero, y me fue.
