GOAL

• Letting go of the agenda and paying closer attention to the horses’ state, so that transitions between states can happen more smoothly. Only introducing exercises when there is connection and willingness on their part.

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• When I went to greet them in the morning, I noticed that part of Boston's belly had been shaved. He had suffered from colic the previous week and had to be taken to the hospital, but fortunately it was nothing serious.

• When I came back in the afternoon, I immediately started the fence game, but Boston took his time before approaching. Once he came over, he stayed with me there for quite a while. However, during most of that time, his ears were pinned back and he kept searching my body for carrots. That day I wanted to offer him carrots both at the fence and as he was leaving, and I felt he was responding to me, although it was still not entirely clear. We played until I ran out of carrots. At the end, Sofie also came over, and I gave her a couple of carrots as well.

• Later, I went into the field with my chair and spent some time with them. Boston positioned himself to rest near the fence, relatively close to where I was sitting. Sofie stayed at the far end of the field. I also decided to place the empty bucket and introduce the liberty stick, but neither of them approached the bucket, so I wasn't able to use the liberty stick yet. I stayed a little longer, and from time to time I walked over to greet them. That day, neither of them came over to my chair.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Cuando pasé a saludarlos en la mañana, vi que Boston tenía parte de la barriga depilada. Había tenido un cólico la semana anterior y tuvieron que llevarlo al hospital, pero no era nada grave.

• Cuando volví en la tarde, ese día empecé enseguida con el juego en la cerca, pero Boston se tomó su tiempo para acercarse. Cuando vino, se quedó mucho tiempo conmigo allí, aunque durante la mayor parte del tiempo tenía las orejas hacia atrás y buscaba zanahorias en mi cuerpo. Ese día quise darle zanahorias tanto en la cerca como cuando se iba, y sentí que me respondía, aunque todavía no de forma completamente clara. Jugamos hasta que se terminaron las zanahorias. Al final, Sofie también se acercó y le di un par de zanahorias.

• Más tarde entré con mi silla y me quedé un rato con ellos. Boston se puso a descansar cerca de la cerca y relativamente cerca de donde yo estaba. Sofie permaneció al fondo del campo. Decidí también poner el canasto vacío y probar el bastón profesional, pero ellos no fueron hacia el canasto, así que todavía no pude usar el bastón.
