GOAL

• Letting go of the agenda and paying closer attention to the horses’ state, so that transitions between states can happen more smoothly. Only introducing exercises when there is connection and willingness on their part.

• The fact that Boston no longer sticks his head out through the fence looking for food or tries to bite me suggests that he is finding other ways to relate to me, with food becoming part of a broader context rather than the main focus of his attention.

• Boston also chose to come closer, rest beside me, and keep his attention on me through his ears.

• Sofie takes the carrot respectfully from my hand, with delicacy, does not go into a searching mode, and stays where she was.

APRENDIZAJE

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• That day I started with the fence exercise. Boston no longer looks for food by sticking his head through the fence, and he no longer tries to bite me as he used to, which I found interesting. He came to the fence, stayed in a resting position beside me for a while, and we connected. I stroked him and noticed that he kept his ears oriented toward me. He was very sweet, and I felt a different kind of connection with him that day.

• After a while, we started playing a little, and it seems that Boston is beginning to understand the concept of “Go” although not completely yet. It was nice to see that when I went to point out a carrot on the ground and Dulce, the male cat, accompanied me, Boston ate the carrot and then stayed playing with Dulce, who allowed him to sniff him.

• Later, I went into the field and spent some more time with both of them. At one point, I also gave a carrot to Sofie, who ate it from my hand, although Boston did not see it. I stayed with them for a little longer, but afterward Sofie seemed bothered by my presence, as she was stomping the ground with one of her hind legs. So I left them alone and went away.

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Ese día empecé con el ejercicio en la cerca. Boston ya no busca comida sacando la cabeza por fuera de la cerca, y tampoco intenta morderme como antes, lo que me pareció interesante. Él vino a la cerca, se quedó un rato durmiendo a mi lado y nos conectamos. Lo acaricié y observé cómo mantenía sus orejas orientadas hacia mí. Estaba muy tierno y sentí una conexión diferente con él ese día.

• Después de un rato empezamos a jugar un poco y parece que Boston está empezando a entender el concepto de "irse", aunque todavía no del todo. Fue bonito ver que, cuando fui a señalar una zanahoria en el suelo y Dulce, el gato, me acompañó, Boston, después de comer la zanahoria, se quedó jugando con Dulce, quien se dejó oler por él.

• Más tarde entré al campo y estuve un rato más con ellos dos. En algún momento también le di una zanahoria a Sofie, que la comió de mi mano, aunque Boston no lo vio. Me quedé un poco más con ambos, pero después pareció que Sofie estaba molesta con mi presencia, ya que golpeaba el suelo con una de sus patas traseras. Así que los dejé tranquilos y me fui.
